Character Profile: Vice Klightervus [Archive] - Wizards Community

Vice was born into a life of luxury and wealth, with parents that were owners of an entire city block of stores. Vice enjoyed his life of luxury, but had an affinity for the street children that lived below his window, and he secretly invited them into his house at night. As time passed, he became an 'official' member of the group of children that called themselves the "Packrat Snatchers." When Vice was 10 years old, his father decided to take him to all the of the stores he owned to start getting Vice acquainted with the life of the businessmen. That night, there was a massive fire on the block, and the family stores were all burnt to the ground, and Vice's father died in the fire. Three days later, while at the funeral of his father, Vice's mother suffered from a severe stroke and died. After returning home, with Vice's uncle now serving as his caretaker, the horses pulling the carriage went into a mad frenzy when a rat fell from a rain drain from above, and they crashed into the side of a building. Vice's uncle was killed in the accident. Vice was then meant to be transferred to his other uncle in the neighboring city, but his other uncle died in a house fire the following day. Vice was then in the hands of the city-state, but he fled away with his friends, the Packrat Snatchers, before they could take him away. Vice spent 3 months living on the streets with his friends, until they accidentally were all killed while climbing a ladder- the rungs gave way and they were killed as they crashed down to the ground, except for Vice who was left perfectly intact. Vice, having nobody else, decided to turn himself over to the city-state again, where they began training to become an officer for the military. For 9 years, Vice developed into a brilliant, albeit very reserved, young officer. At age 20, the city-state was attacked by a horde of rampaging ettins, and the city was sacked and destroyed. Vice escaped perfectly intact, and moved northward. Vice, having no home, and accepting the fact that he has a dark, aloof fate regardless of his good intentions, is now an aspiring shadowdancer. He is now on a personal vendetta against his own tormented mind, having the guilt of all his dead loved ones on his conscious. He extracts his pain and frustration on his enemies, being both unmerciful and uncaring. He doesn't care about fame, he doesn't care about wealth, he doesn't care about power, although he embraces all three of them if they can help him on his road of becoming the master over the dark energies, so that he may use the very dark energies that are bound to his soul in order to destroy the evil that haunts the world. While on his vendetta, he can only observe the world of the every day commoner with a suppressed sense of envy for their simple life.

Vice enjoys strategy games, theater, opera, reading, and taking quiet walks. His favorite color is purple, and he enjoy quiet, warm weather. He attempts to be good natured and sociable, though he often goes into mood swings of aloofness and coldness.

Vice has long, brown hair and brown eyes, stands at 5'11, and weighs 200 lbs (fairly muscular). He has a large birth mark on his lower back, and has a pale complexion, with light freckles. He is a fairly handsome man, although he rarely takes care of himself, usually just letting his long hair hang lose around him. Vice follows a very unhealthy diet, eating almost nothing but meat, and oily foods, and almost never fruits and vegetables. He gets along very well with wizards, bards, fighter types, and rogue types. Although he is very bitter with sorcerers and paladins since they are blessed with special inherit qualities. Vice looks down particularly on sorcerers as pathetic creatures that are successful only because they are graced with natural arcane abilities, and thus they deserve no respect whatsoever since they have not earned what they can do. Vice is a follower of Boccob, though not very devoutly. He admires Boccob since he doesn't' care about him, and so he doesn't care about him back. Vice has hidden desires to marry and raise a family, though he is paranoid that those he love will simply die on him. Thus, he carries on in his life of violence and adventurer, eagerly awaiting the day that he is killed in combat.
