| Mac Daddy09-08-05, 10:04 PM | Hi everybody, I'm currently in the process of writing a novel, and need ideas for a range of different characters. And I figured that people on this forum would be able to come up with the pretty good ideas. The main types of characters I am looking for are: - Necromancer, CE - Evil Paladin, CE - Desertlands warrior, CG - Rogue Thief - Rogue Assassin However any other classes, whether pre-existing or homebrew, would also be good. Also included in the character description is their backhistory, current reason for their adventuring, and possessions. If deities are included in the description, already existing deities as well as homebrew deities would be great. This is anybody's opportunity to be creative, or share a character they have made up previously. |
| Elias Tyleil09-09-05, 08:36 AM | I played a rogue thief once by the name of Wilmer Valentine....He duel wields a dagger and a short sword. He was very acrobatic....he did stuff like flipping over opponets heads, and once he climbed a boulder, jumped on the back of a dire boar and rode it until it was killed. Wimer's bio is something like this..... He was raised in Silverymoon after never knowing his family. Alustrieal took him in after she saw him in the town performing for money. He was taught by some of The Harper's best thiefs and acrobats to become who he is now. He is adventuring because some orcs has been screwing with the trade routes between Silverymoon and Citadel Adbar. His caravan came under attack and the orcs captured an important political figure of Silvermoon. Wilmer feels that he is responsible and is searching The Silver Marshes trying to find the ambassador..... Anyway, if you use Wilmer....His dagger is a +1, and his short sword has been imbued with the silence spell to help against spellcasters. His demeanor is cocky and sarcastic, but he is responsible and dependent. Feel free to do what you want with anything of him. Hope the novel comes along well and keep me updated. Keep gaming, Kilgore :D |

The Sultanat is highly civilized though, and allow stranger women to dress as they like, as long as they are with their husband. That's the reason why Ingrid Fahman is allowed to show her face in public areas. She and her husband has lived in the Sultanat for nearly 20 years by now, for her husband, Robert Fahman, is the ambassador for their own country, the Ambrald Dukedom. When Ingrid got pregnant, about fifteen years ago, she wished of all her heart that she would have a boy. No one told her precisely, but it was clearly insinuated that if she had a girl, that girl should be raise in the way of the Sultanat: she would be taught that women had no rights, and the duty to hide their faces in public areas. The other solution, returning to the Dukedom, would have meant failure and dishonor for Robert Fahman, and she didn't wish that. She was greatly disappointed to give birth to a girl. But she refused to teach her the submission to all the male she would meet. That's why she disguised her as a boy, and named her Valerian. Valerian grew up as an intelligent and swift children. In daytime, she was taught how to ride a camel and fight with bows and scimitars; in the evening, her mother taught her legends about valorous Ambraldian women. When she was old enough to understand it was forbidden to teach weaponry to young girls, she decided to keep the secret her mother was keeping since her birth. But as she was getting older, the secret was harder to keep... As a teenager, she had the luck to have modest breasts, it was easier to hide. Her hard training also gave her a stocky build that could pass for a young man. The true problem came when she fell in love with Oudassim, her weaponmaster. Oudassim wasn't the best swordman of the Sultanat, but he was for sure the quicker. When came the time to choose a apprentice, he chose the white-skinned Valerian, the swifter of all the sword school student. Valerian learned easily the complex moves Oudassim was teaching her. She also began to dream about this sensible man. She kept her feeling secret for months, before comitting the irreparabe: she told him all her secrets. At first, Oudassim's feeling were mutual. But it quickly became impossible for him: if someone learned he was teaching swordmanship to a woman, he would be dishonored. Valerian was devastated to learn that not only their love was impossible, but she would loose the teacher she respected the most. In addition, her secret identity was more treatened than ever. She had no choice, she had to leave. (At this point, it's up to you weather she flee in the desert and join some nomads, or if her parents return her to their country as "Their son is called for duty") |

For the CE Necromancer, it could have been a wizard who lost the woman he loved. He began to search forbidden ways to bring her back, but only succeed at animating her as a zombie. This failure drove him crazy, and his only wish is to take a revenge on the world itself. Perhaps more ideas later... |

| Tavi the Spell-Weaver09-12-05, 08:34 PM | One character I've been wanting to make for a while is a NE drow by the name of Micardia. She worked as an assassin in the drow community for a couple hundred years before she made a major mistake; she walked into a setup by someone whose family she'd taken one too many jobs against. She managed to escape and fled to the surface to hide in a major city. In order to survive, she obtained a Ring of Disguise Self which she uses to assume the form of a surface elf. In this form she calls herself Mailia and is very friendly and sociable in general. Of course, just because she befriends someone as Mailia doesn't mean she won't kill them as Micardia. She continues to work as an assassin and has gained quite a reputation. She keeps her hair very long (hangs to lower back) and dyes it black to help her blend in with the shadows. She doesn't kill randomly or indescriminantly, but she doesn't exactly hold other peoples' lives in high regard either. The shortsword and throwing knives are her weapons of choice, but she's also been known to use a garrote upon occasion as well. She considers crossbows to be too impersonal for killing and will only use a hand crossbow to put someone to sleep such as a guard or anyone else who happens to be in the way. Her best assets are her stealth and experience. She is reasonably strong, but hand-to-hand combat is by no means her specialty. Micardia is the type of drow who became evil out of necessity to survive in an evil society. Under the right circumstances she might become neutral, but after all these years a good alignment is probably too much to hope for. She would make a decent one-time villain, or possibly an ally if there was something in it for her. |
| Mac Daddy09-22-05, 02:15 AM | Well, they're pretty good characters. Thanks guys for posting them. What about... An Orc Barbarian (a mercenary raider on hire). Backhistory included. Any class of lycanthrope (eg. Fighter, sorcerer, rogue, etc). Any characters would be good, even if they aren't ones I requested. I'll put in a brief summary of my novel idea so people can base the characters around them. A group of friends in modern day Knightsville, a (fictional) city in Australia, finally become fed up with life in the country. As luck would have it, a friend in a top-secret military research lab has smuggled out a teleportation machine prototype to the group, along with four fusion engines for their Skyline, WRX, Evo IX and Eclipse Spider (the fusion engine eliminating the need for petrol). The friends also own a garage, where they do everything from repairs to modifications and enhancements. While trying to teleport to New Zealand to start new lives, the machine malfunctions and they find themselves in another dimension, on an alternate version of Earth full of Elves, Dwarves, Humans, Orcs, Halflings and several other races, as well as many monsters thought to be fictional in their home dimension. They have no way to return home, and must live in this other dimension while a major war is fought, a war which threatens the existence of the races of humans, elves, dwarves and halflings. That is the short explanation of the book I'm writing. The characters posted here could be enemies who try to destroy the group's cars, thinking that they are evil gifts from the underworld. They could be thieves who try stealing the cars. They could be mages who cast powerful spells on the cars which render them undamageable. Or they could be any other characters who have profound affects on the main characters. Even characters which replace the main characters and have to learn how to use the cars and the weapons the first character owned. Anyway, I look forward to seeing what other characters everybody can come up with. |
