What do you think charisma is? I know some people associate it with you life force. I believe it is your life force. I also believe that charisma isnt just your ability to deal with other people, it is also self-confidence, you could be a recluse, but still be very self-confident. I also think that a person with high charisma will generally be happy, and not lose hope. While a person with low charisma will. A person who is happy, will certainly have a stronger life force than someone who is sad.

Charisma can mean a few different things. It measures physical attractiveness, presence, wit, and persuasiveness. It depends on the character. An extremely beautiful bard may have a high Cha because she is hot, so people are willing to like and trust her. However, a scarred evil warlord may have a high Cha because he is brilliant, intimidating and has a strong personality. Even still, a paladin may have a high Cha because he is, in fact, honest and trustworthy and he simply exudes those qualities from every pore of his being.

Mostly, Charisma is a measure of a characters force of personality, no matter what his exact qualities are.

Charisma is what the French call a certain... I don't know what (no, really, that's what it translates to! I just can't spell the French words :D). The 7th Sea RPG had the best attribute that I associate with Charisma: Panache. Pananche was a measure of your personal style and presence. In 7th Sea, it determined how many actions you got, because it was how often you were in life's spot light. Very cool idea.

Charisma is a measure of the strength of your presence, and how powefully you can exert your will. That is the key difference between Charisma and Willpower; Willpower is internal, Charisma is external. People with high Charismas get their way, get heard, get seen, and generally absorb attention whenever they want to (and sometimes when they don't).

Yeah, 7th Sea had it down pat. Charisma is how often you are in life's spot light.

Going by the Monster Manual, Charisma, at its core, is sense of identity. A creature with Charisma 1 or higher can tell the difference between itself and things that are not itself. Force of personality flows nicely from this definition, and from that comes self-confidence, which is how most of the social skills apply to it.
