| Tiefling_Warlock10-15-06, 10:15 PM | I am going to play a warlock 2 heres the backstory. Sarth Xithard was unlucky. He was gifted with natural leadership, but his plans never worked, he was a good shot, but acidentally hit his frineds, he was smart, but he was always missing a piece of key informattion. Everything he tried to do he failed at. Everything. At the age of ten, he had acidentally killed his mother by slipping and stabbing her with a knife and put his father into a coma by acidentally pushing him through a window. He wasn't convicted While the guards investigated the accidents they sent him off to a nearby, cheap wizards college. He worked at becoming a wizard but nothing ever came out right. He had to re-take classes over and over again due to lost assignments and, in one occasion, the desruction of the alchemists lab. Unable to pay his expenses his older brother (who took after his parents) sent him to the extreamly cheap fighters college. After a year of everything going well, he acidentally killed his teacher. The police though enough was enough, this boy had killed two people, put another in a coma, and destroyed a lab. This couldn't just be accidental. So they attempted to arrest him. Sarth ran. After a month of eluding his captors (and accidentally killing more innocents) he was walking thought a field, sword in hand when he heard the sounds of fighting. He investigated and saw a noble Kight fighting an evil masked warlock. The Kight had grounded the Warlock and they were engaged in melee. Seeing his chance to redeem himself (or die trying) Sarth charged the Warlock just to have his sword bounce of his foes armor. This didn't affect the Warlock at all. Instead it caught the Kights attention giving the Warlock a chance at once last desperate attack on his foe. Mortally wounded the Kight was able to finish off the Warlock before diing. Astounded by his own horrible deed Sarth was about to kill himself, then he noticed the mask. It called for him. He bent over and picked it up...and put it on. It besowed him with power, the power to summon fire and defeat his foes. He also felt different, lucky, somehow his wind has changed, and Sarth, was going to take the oppertunity. Sarth Gains almost all of his power from the mask (unable to us any magic without it) and has become more adept at harnessing it's power. He, amazed at the mask has become obsessed with magic items and hunts them mercilessly. He also, over his career, become addicted to magic, and uses the mask with abandon. This is what I have so far, help is appreciated. |
| Cherubaddon10-16-06, 12:28 AM | Cool story. Just some random ideas: Do you want to play an evil/selfish-neutral warlock? If so, you could have two choices: First, the mask in itself might be corrupting, so that he slowly becomes evil. On the other hand, the mask (or just a devil/outsider/any other random entity) could "open his eyes", telling him (honestly or untruthfully) that one/several/all gods had cursed him with unluck, so now Sarth might become a cleric-slayer, whether of all gods or of just a few (maybe just one); I only hope you dont have that kind of cleric in your group. If you want to be good, I can't help you much, because 1) I almost always play evil characters, so I kind of suck for good stories, and 2) your story seems very good with the whole redemption-issue. I don't think you might need more. Hope it helps, have fun! |
| Tiefling_Warlock10-16-06, 03:28 PM | I like the cleric hunting idea! I'm an Athiest in RL and *never* play clerics so it will work pretty well. That and the fact there probably won't be a cleric in the party.... |

I am not an atheist, and most of my characters have a deity, but I never play clerics either. Why ask your deity for power if you can simply get it yourself as an arcanist? Have fun! |
