Want to be sure this backstory sounds decent... comments please?

Burginton Blathazar "Flip" Goldsparkle
Gnome Wizard 3
AL CN
Appearance: Brown hair, brown eyes, flamboyant clothes (reversible into dull gray, for stealth), large backpack (Hopefully able to afford a Handy Haversack soon).

Flip's origins are unknown; perhaps he has forgotten them himself, since he has been self-sufficient for as long as he can remember.

Unlike many homeless youngsters, however, Flip had no cares about his own lack of a roof. A likeable and creative youth, he usually found work easily; often providing magical effects for local street performers, at first with his innate magical talent and then with minor spells he learned from various small-time wizards in exchange for odd jobs. Though now an adult and making a respectable living by crafting scrolls and casting spells, he retains the child's carefree demeanor. Like most gnomes, he enjoys jokes and pranks--though his victims may not!

Flip's study of magic began with illusions; but branched out from there into all sorts of magic. He doesn't much like conflict, however; so he prefers not to cast spells which are directly harmful to his opponents. Instead, he will hinder or humiliate them, buying time to escape and plot even more humiliation from the safety of whatever place he is calling home at the time.

His philosophy, which has stood him in good stead, is "Always be prepared". Consequently, Flip carries with him a large amount of seemingly useless items--items which, somehow, he always seems to find uses for. His spell selection is equally eclectic, but no less useful.

While he has little respect for authority or the dignity of the nobility, Flip appreciates and will defend friends. His backpack has gotten his friends out of more than one tight situation. The gnome has come to feel it quite a matter of pride that he should always have the right item, or at least be able to improvise one from what he has. And, when he finds just the right use for the most random of his possessions, it's a great ego boost.

I think it's great. Shows how you don't have to have horrible angst or fifteen pages of epic adolescence to be interesting ;p

Wow, I think it's kind of odd that, even though your a paladin, you still only have 7 CHA, and 10 STR, two of the most important, in my book, skills for the paladin.

But heck, besides that, I think your backstory is great. Got lots of good little flavors in it, I like that.

oh, damn, whoops, my bad... Didn't even realize that that was your signature, until right After I hit the submit post button.... *hits head* But still, I hold my statement for true. Anyways, now that I double checked, your backstory even makes a little more sense now... lol. Sorry about that, that would be my bad right there.

Second time that's happened. I'm taking the stats out...

I've done angst... I'm done with angst. I just wanna have fun. Which is why I made this character...

Actually, I'm considering re-naming him Skimbleshanks, after my cat. :P

Sure sounds nice to me, too. It is way better than anything I ever receive from my players in terms of "background story".

Hope you got the Macguyver skills to make this fly around the table, though!
