| Jounou04-05-07, 09:02 PM | I'm currently working on a Character for an Eberron Campaign I'll be joining, and have come a cross a slight problem due to my infamiliarity with Eberron and the span of time since I last played D&D: I need two more languages for my character, but I can't choose due to the fact I'm not sure what availiable languages there are. My character has resided most of her life in Droaam, surrounded by ogres and goblins. Do Ogres and goblins have their own languages? or are they both subject to common, and thus I should find something else for my language slots? Also, do giants from Xen'drik speak a different language? |

The ECS doesn't say anything about the language of Xen'drik however... What type of character is yours? Think about what languages your character would hae learned given her profession and/or background. Since your character grew up in Droaam, she probably didn't learn goblin because of the society that surrounded her. Gnolls, Goblins, Orcs make up most of the population of Droaam. So your choices would probably be Gnoll, Goblin, Orc, or Giant if you wanted to go with the races around Droamm.... So yeah... |

It should be noted however, that with the rule of the hags racial tribalism is diminishing, and in many areas the diverse people use the common language out of nescessity. Ogres speak Giant, Goblins speak Goblin (based on the Dhakaani language), and gnolls (the most common race in Droaam, which you seem to have forgotten for some reason) speak Gnoll. |
