| NateNate01-05-05, 09:03 AM | I'm making a Chosen of Zarus (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ex/20041203a)-type character. He'll either be an NPC coming up, or I'll get to play it because we may do an epic game soon. I haven't thought of any names to use, but this is what I've got: Background Story: He always did the right thing, upheld the law, and protected the weak and innocent in his youth, and continued to do those things once he became a Paladin. However, throughout his career he became ever more self-righteous and concieted, eventually despising those he protected and served. No longer wanting the burden of being a Paladin, he was contacted by a servant of Zarus (and qualified for both Contemplative and Blackguard all at once!). Apparently his prowess and awesomeness got someone's attention. The being was a perfect specimen of the Human race, and told him that it was not he who was great, but humanity as a whole. He was easily convinced, and the rest is optimization history.... He'll be a Fallen Paladin 11/ Divine Crusader 2/ Contemplative 7, gaining his 21st level in Blackguard. This will allow him to trade in all 11 Paladin levels for Blackguard levels, becoming Blackguard 12/ Divine Crusader 2/ Contemplative 7. I don't have many ideas for the benefits of being a Chosen of Zarus. Maybe if I use this for a PC I'll have to settle for being a Chosen in name alone. If I make him an NPC (possibly even an ally; my group really likes Zarus) I probably wouldn't want more than +2-3 CR for the benefits. I was thinking something like +2 or +4 to all stats, maybe +2 to three and +4 to the other three. Maybe a Smite Nonhuman ability, number of uses being 1/2 character levels per day. Perhaps an extra Domain as well, either Evil or Strength (probably Evil). Any suggestions for other stuff?
