Class for a troll [Archive] - Wizards Community

he is CN

Abilities:
32 str
18 dex
22 con
10 int
10 wis
10 cha

I am pretty sure he will get to pick his first class level next week, I was thinking either fighter or barbarian or ranger (obvious troll choices.)
I was just wondering if anyone had any other ideas for something that a troll could be. Prc's etc.
He wears light armor so I was leaning more towards barbarian or ranger, but he already has multi attack and improved multi attack and does a nice amount of damage with just his natural weapons. So barbarian is what I'm left with.
Any thoughts would be great.

10-04-03, 06:48 PM I really wish they hadn't renamed this board "Character Developement" (it used to be indepth role-playing). This doesn't really belong here, as it isn't really an RP question (simple mistake though). But I'll answer anyway.

This could work as a good ranger, but I wouldn't recomend it, seeing as how you have a 10 in wisdom, so you wouldn't be able to cast spells. I'd go barbarian or fighter from a mechanical perspective. A troll barbarian is a truly scary thing.

However, you could also go rogue (monk would be fun too, but you're already CN, so that's a nope), as a rogue you'd focus mostly on hitting things and using skills that aren't based on int, cha or wis (oddly enough you would be a sneaky troll). But this wouldn't really be the best class for this character. I say barbarian or fighter, keep in mind that while fighters are proficient with heavy armor, they don't have to use it 9and with your dex you wouldn't want to). If you go barb you'll probably choose one of the weapons with the biggest damage output (swords and axes), but if you go fighter you might want to pick on of the really cool weapons (like a large-sized spiked chain, or glaive).

Then again, if you really like your natural weapons, see if you can find a copy of the Dragon where they talk about fighter classes in 3.5 (it's pretty recent), and look at the puggilist. Or you could just specialize in weapon focus (claws) and whatnot.

You will scare the s**t out of everything! If you like you could try for some levels of ranger too a go for a double weapon... You already have a +20 bonus... Having at least one extra attack at +18/+18 wouldn't change many things!
