JBeauMI 03-06-06, 07:30 PM	I am working up the background for my next cleric, who will be a cleric of Mystra from Raven's Bluff in Faerun. I downloaded and read (or scanned) through the Raven's Bluff PDF from WotC downloads. Specifically, I am interested in any books or adventures about the Six-Day Battle in Raven's Bluff. The part (page 30) about the two clerics of Mystra who died with 80 or so clerics of Tempus destroying an armor fragment from the (then dead) god Bane. It seems like a good reason for someone to leave home and travel toward Zhentil Keep, which is the area where most of our campaign has taken place. Character Sketch: Mother - a former Wychlaran (Rashimi witch) with black hair Father - Cleric/wizard of Thoth in Mulhorand with golden eyes Both parents are human, although dad has the eyes denoting some Aasimir heritage. They met during a search of ruins in the North Country of Rashiman, but they never tell her about it. It may have involved Thayans, for both parents hate them. Not certain why they moved to Raven's Bluff. Perhaps mother refused to capture him as a Vremyonmi? Perhaps she is watching him still? They moved to Raven's Bluff about 30 yeras ago. I am tempted to have them own an inn, with access to the dwarven ruins underneath Raven's Bluff, because it would make for an adventurous child. Both parents served at the Temple of Mysteries (temple of Mystra and Azuth). Both parents were adventurers, and active in the city militia, becoming members of the Keepers of the Mystic Flame (order of knights who protect Raven's Bluff from Magic). If both parents died in the six-day war, and the inn (like so many other buildings) was destroyed, it seems a solid explanation for becoming an adventurer. Hints, Suggestions, Gag reflexes?
Ensjak 03-07-06, 03:02 PM	Sounds good to me. Only question I have is why Cleric of Mystra instead of Thoth? I understand that she grew up around the temple and that her parents both served there, but if her father was a cleric of Thoth wouldn't he try to have his only daughter become a cleric of the god he himself serves? Other than that it sounds really cool. Also, how old was she when her parents died? Where was she during that battle? Did she partake and survive or was she just orphaned and forced to leave due to the desolation?
JBeauMI 03-07-06, 07:13 PM	Sorry, a little more background. The Rashimi witches are cleric/wizards or cleric/sorcerers. They ride into battle on horseback and use whips or spiked chains, depending on how you read it. I want a cleric who can ride, and shurikins are not a viable weapon to me. Once her father left Mulhornad, he probably would have stopped worshipping his Mulhorand diety, choosing either Mystra or Azuth (probably Azuth) as his new diety. Her parents would have died about 3 years ago, in story-line time. She would have fought in the six-day war, but I have not selected a spot for her. Perhaps inside the city, healing the wounded and defending the citizens. I am looking at more of a revenge motive for her leaving Raven's Bluff. A kindly man from the storyline will meet up with her about 2 years back, and help her find her way back to a path her parents would have respected.
