| mentat21811-23-06, 01:17 AM | 1st time poster, 1st time real attempt at a character concept/background: Here's what I've gotten from my DM (who is a regular player in our group who is taking a try at running a short campaign): We're on a colony ship leaving Faerun to go to an unknown and recently discovered island. Early reports from the initial expidition reports no indigenous population (although he's dropped more than a few hints that we them at one point). Here's my character idea (it may be a bit cliche, but any help would be great) Wallach Greengate was born in Tasseldale, son of a poor widower pottery craftsman. As a young boy, he witnessed an assault on his father by a group of ruffians involved in the Woodsman's War. Unable to heal his father's wounds himself, Wallach brought him to the Abbey of the Just Hammer, where the clerics in the service of Tyr healed Wallach's father. So overcome with gratitude towards the clerics, this event sparked Wallach's faith in the tenets of Tyr's religion: honor, lawfulness & justice. He entered into the service of the Abbey, where he practiced his faith and began training as a cleric. Drow invasions to the north allowed Wallach to hone his martial skills in combat, and he was commended for gallantry and exceptional bravery . After 6 years of front-line military service, Wallach returned to the Abbey, pleased with the progress of his battle skills, but burning with the desire to focus on being able to further the cause of law and justice with both words and the sword. He studied with the head of the Abbey, developing skills in leadership, negotiation and diplomacy. Why he's on the colony ship: he's the shepherd, tending to his flock. He's there to make sure that law and justice are being followed in this unexplored land. He's also there to serve as a diplomat in case of encountering indigenous peoples on this island. Fitting attributes/skills/feats in with the concept: He's got a very high strength, decent constitution, good combat gear and some combat feats (power attack, combat casting) & War domain based on his military experience. High wisdom, Concentration, knowledge (arcana), knowledge (religion) & spellcraft from being a cleric. Good cleric domain, Negotiator and Leadership feats for being trained as a diplomat. Any suggestions, hints, ideas would be greatly appreciated. I'd also like to come up with some sort of hidden agenda/mission entrusted to him by the church, something that would be personal and not for public dissemination (if I can get it to fit into the scenario after discussing it with my DM) |
