| Sergikins11-01-06, 06:19 PM | ALright, so I'm making a cleric of Fharglhan... well actually, just a whole bunch of gods of travel, but his patron god is Fharglhan. I want to sling religous quotes during the campaign, so, i thought, what better way to get some ideas then the boards! so post any and all ideas you have for teh scriptures of various gods. any god is fair game, just be sure to include the name of the god and a two or three word blurb on what it is about. Fell free to write it about anything, if you want to write somehting about, i dunno, beholders, thats fine. for example. Fharglhan - Of respecting elders An old grey wise man and a young foolish boy came upon a wide river in their travels. both man and boy climbed into the boat on shore, and the old man said "Row, for if i row, my bones will crack." Then he said "Why should i row, for if your bones will crack, then when we reach the other side, you shall be useless to me." then the old man said with rage "For when you have a beard like mine, you will row, and your own bones shall crack!" Then the young man lowered his head in shame and took fast hold of the oars and rowed. |
| Daxen11-01-06, 09:56 PM | 1) Fharglhan on Change (specifically personal change) "No man has ever stepped into the same river twice, for by the stepping, both he, and the river are forever changed." Partially stolen from Budhism 2) Fharglhan on the benefits of travel "Still waters stagnate and putrefy, running waters cleanse themselves. Which type are you?"" 3) Fharglan general "Do you know why I look at the Horizon? Because that is where hope makes it's home." "Each step defines the path, each path defines the walker, choose your steps carefully, lest you walk in shame." Fharlaghn is my favorite core Diety. Keep in mind that the clergy of Fharlaghn would be very much into a "Life's a journey not a destination" mindset. "Most things aren't good or bad, they are just things, and I want to see them all." Hope these help..enjoy |
| blackjackg11-01-06, 11:59 PM | I'm playing a truism-spouting Cleric of Fharlanghn right now. So far, the only really good ones I've used (in the two sessions we've played so far) are: "Doors are made to be opened," and "There's no such thing as a wrong way." |
| TheAnthroDM11-02-06, 12:03 AM | After a difficult battle "We walked a difficult path today, but it has only made our feet stronger for tougher roads" |
| Sergikins11-02-06, 08:15 PM | hey even though Fharglhan is defintly the coolest god, no need to have everything relates to him Vecna - Of secrets... Mouthes are meant to be shut. if they open, man will find he will be eating his own tongue as it is ripped out and force fed down his throat in denial. |
| Sergikins11-06-06, 04:25 PM | wow, this board gets no traffic.... or very little. merhh bumped |
| dhamonra11-10-06, 09:17 PM | "The road behind us is just that, look at the path before you" If someone dissents, but goes along with the group: "You missed the other path back there" Not too great, but the second one brings some humor to your character |
| Azezel11-13-06, 11:34 PM | One day, Kord and Joramy met each other in the Beastlands. They talked and realsied that both were going to visit Ehlonna for reasons of their own. They walked through the forrest for a time until they came to a giant tree which grew right in their path. 'Watch this,' said Kord, and with a mighty heave, he pulled the tree from the ground and cast it down by the side of their way. Joramy watched, and as the tre landed she flashed her glance across the wood, turning it instantly to flame. 'Why did you do that?' asked Kord, 'It was no longer in our way.' 'Ehlonna will ask about her tree,' Joramy said, 'So long as I am part of your crime, I will make it my own.' -------------------- The Druids say this: Men want a crop for a year, they grow grain. Elves want a crop for a century, they grow trees. Dwarves want a crop for a millenia, they grow stone. Nature wants a crop forever, she grows Druids. |
| BluEnigma11-14-06, 12:33 AM | Ho, dang... I've got a book around here somewhere... "Desert Wisdom" or something. I'll look around and see if I can find it. I think it might have some good quotes. |
| The_Hedgewizard11-14-06, 02:37 AM | Partially stolen from Budhism I didn't know Heraclitus was a Buddhist... |
| Daxen11-15-06, 03:50 PM | I didn't know Heraclitus was a Buddhist... Doh! Greek philosopher, Bhudist Monk...same thing ;) |
| Reversefigure411-15-06, 03:52 PM | The Druids say this: Men want a crop for a year, they grow grain. Elves want a crop for a century, they grow trees. Dwarves want a crop for a millenia, they grow stone. Nature wants a crop forever, she grows Druids. THAT is awesome. |
| VicsDnD11-15-06, 07:50 PM | I went to thinkexist.com and typed in Travel for a slew of travel related quotes like: “The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.” -St. Augustine or The Fharlaghn Primer |
| leather_book_wizard11-15-06, 09:11 PM | "If the road you are traveling has no obstacles, it probably leads nowhere." |
