Yo peoples. This is a bit of a concept I've whipped up for a non-standard campaign I'm joining. Coments are welcome and suggestions are appriciated.

Name: Maximillian Von Schwartz
Race: Human
Class: Wizard
Level: 5
Age: 23
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Religeon: Campaign specific stuff. Primarly a God of knowledge and philosophy

Stats in order with racial and level bonuses: 10/14/12/17/10/11

Character Notes
Sharp and confident – refined would be the first word to spring to mind if you hand to describe Maximillian. Much like the rest of his family his features are sharp and chiselled – perhaps indicating a distant echo of elfish blood. Unlike most others with his profession, and also his social class, Maxmillian’s physique is surprisingly toned and fit. His heritage has gifted him with the same piercing, crimson eyes as his father which stare gently from in-between the long fringe of his keen mess of raven black hair.

With his upbringing firmly rooted in higher social circles, Max naturally carries himself with posture and grace. Nearly all of his movements that deal with class and standing are slightly drawn out and emphasized with little extra motions that only a noble would do. Despite this, however, he still remains fairly down to earth. As the eldest sibling in his household he was also instilled with a natural sense of duty and loyalty – as well as a bit of a silver tongue.

A cunning risk-taker with a streak for strategy, Maximillian has penchant for gambling and a fancy for Lady Luck as well as the magical talent to make sure he doesn’t kill himself. So far, a few near death experiences have not deterred him from this, although of late he has been weighing the odds more carefully and he isn’t afraid to fallback when faced with a superior foe (“Run like a little girl!”). In combat he is more than aware of his somewhat frail nature and he acknowledges that a strong team is the key to victory. In this, he uses his spell casting abilities in a supporting nature if the situation calls for them but in any case he sticks to the back and out of his enemies reach.

Clothing wise, he hasn’t managed to shed his status. When he moves about his social circles, Max tries to keep to the cutting edge of fashion (you can’t go to the ball in something that went out of style last week). Although he does realize that those outfits are hardly the type to be adventuring in and for that he has his explorer’s gear – which was designed for practicality first, comfort second and fashion a distant runner up. Maximillian generally keeps to that formula as well…although the odd piece of expensive decoration occasionally shows up.

Biography
So, before we can agree on this mutual partnership you’d like a bit of my history? Or, to put it in layman’s terms, you want me to give you enough for a background check? Fair enough, with times the way they are trust is becoming a rare commodity, but it is rather unfortunate that we must resort to laying ourselves open for judgement.

What can I say? I am a Schwartz and as I’m sure you know that isn’t a family name to be scoffed at. For the last four generations we have been nobles and aristocrats but above all that pomp and ceremony we are adventurers. For you see, we all have the spark that tells us to go a bit further; that tells us to become something more than those nobles that sip Champaign and in doing so we aspire to become something better.

If you want to check that part of my little fable then I might I suggest looking into what my brothers and sisters are doing. All nine of them – although younger than me – are shaping up quite nicely in their own separate ways. I must confess that lately I’m feeling rather weak in comparison to a few of them but that’s what comes with devoting yourself to the mind over the body as most wizards, like myself, are won’t to do.

As you can imagine it was quite the household with that many wannabe heroes in training but I don’t want to bore you with all the little details so I’ll skip around and try to cover the important parts before you go to sleep. As you know I am a wizard, and some would even say I am a prodigy or perhaps a genius among men. Now, it is true that I have no small measure of talent but really, one must thank my grandfather from his excellent teachings and he extensive grasp of magical theory. Without him I certainly wouldn’t be out adventuring – not alive anyway.

This brings us nicely to the start of my career. I began my journey into the wide world a few years ago. I’ve moved through the upper social circles, I’ve talked with other important people, I’ve danced – although I still can’t do terribly well – and generally kept my image up while I conducted a business of a more dangerous kind.

And I’m not talking about adventuring either. Gambling downtown my friend is far more dangerous than fighting your run-of-the-mill bandit or kobold. Seedy taverns full shady people and far too much alcohol to keep a straight head. It can be down right terrible at times. Don’t look at me like that mate. It’s not like I’ve had no experience what so ever - I’ve done the travelling hero work as well and I’m probably far better than anyone else in your price range. Don’t mistake me for some kind of charlatan though – I take pay cuts like this to keep myself sharp and on my toes – and to be honest it’s not like I’m losing anything by sacrificing a few gold pieces for the “greater good”.

And I believe that concludes this little interview my good man. Get back to me with your final decision in the morning.

I believe the biggest question left unanswered in your description is one of convictions. What does he love, or hate? What does he strive for or against? He obviously takes no shame in his family name; does he revel in it? How does he treat his peers, or his inferiors?

I suppose that as long as you have those questions answered for yourself, it's not really necessary to give the information to anyone else. Still, it seems like the kind of stuff one would expect to see on a character outline. Maybe I'm just being picky. :P

Your absolutly right about those points but to tell you the truth they're something that I want to figure out in character instead of trying to set everything in stone right at the begining. And since you didn't coment on everything else I suppose the rest of it's alright then. Cheers for the response

For his love of gambling, you could perhaps make him TN instead of LN. And for some of his social skills, you could give him a bard level.

There's something strange too: all his 9 younger brothers and sisters are already adventuring? If his parents were continually producing babies like rabbits, the younger one would be out adventuring at 14-15 years old. Isn't it a bit young?

Not if he/she came from a family of adventurers and took advantage of all his/her older siblings could teach - as well depending on the class she took it would be possible to be that young. You'll note that the character does mention that some of his siblings are stronger in body than him.

Plus he did not specifically leave out or mention that some of his siblings were twins/triplets/etc.

That could increase the age of the character's youngest sibling.

So taking all that into account he could have a 1st level fighter as the youngest sibling of nine while he is 23 years old.
