| the_mime07-15-03, 12:16 AM | well I'm starting a new character (lawful good knight---fighter/Prp. dragon knight) after my previous character (lawful evil ninja--rogue/ftr) died in battle and had a raise attempted but refused....(for the better of the group...long story but evil wasn't getting along with other good characters, especially a paladin). So I actually thought about it, and I wanted to have my knight meet up with the other characters (and really overplay the good part, to the point of almost making the paladin look evil). But i wanted him to have some affiliation with the ninja. Possibly hired? But for what? Why would a LG knight be aquanted with a LE ninja? Basically I do want to have the knight revive the ninja, but he will leave the group in search for his clan. Any ideas? |

One would be that the knight and the ninja had worked together in the past, perhaps before they came upon their current alignments (if they had both been LN before one went LE and one LG, that is - perhaps this change was the reason that they parted ways in the first place). The knight may revive his old companion in hopes of giving him a second chance, trying to redeem him - though presumably the ninja would have none of that, and they would part ways once more. Another would be the old romance hook. In my experience, love is one of the few things that can make a character act seriously outside of their alignment, however briefly. Perhaps if they had been romantically involved, the knight would want the ninja resurrected in hopes of resurrecting that romance. Then, there is the "fated rivals" approach. This could work if the pair had known each other previously, and had personally faced each other numerous times before. Although such a thing would be against the knight's better judgement, the knight may feel that the ninja was destined to die only by his blade, and would want to see him resurrected so they could have their final showdown. Of course, when the ninja gives him the slip and goes home, your chara would be left with the onus of tracking him down and finishing things - but if you think you could make it woirk, it may be a good choice. Hope some of that helps ^^ |

Perhaps the ninja knows something your paladin has to know (if your dm is willing to allow this to maybe affect the campaign) the location of a relative, or a secret password, or something like that. And there has to be some reason for the ninja to seek out the group later. Therefore patience there pally, he will be back just wait with us. |

I've found the army to be the single best place to get together characters of different backgrounds and alignments. |
