Hey gang,

I'm posting this character build query here rather than in the CO boards mostly because I'm less interested in making a powerful character than a fun one.

Here's the situation. I'm playing a Human Cleric of Fharlanghn (NG). Basic 3.5 character. Started at Lvl 1, now he's level 2. I'm wondering if anyone can suggest a class progression more unique and interesting than just getting more spells every level.

What he's got so far: High Wis, Dex and Cha. Domains: Luck and Travel. Feats: Lightning Reflexes & Jack of all Trades (CAd). High skills are Concentration, Diplomacy and Survival. The character is essentially an itinerant philanthropist, wandering the world in search of new experiences and new people to help. Any suggestions?

You might want to consider Track as a 3rd level feat. It'll work nicely with high Wis and high Survival, and can enable you to help people by finding lost loved ones, hunting down orcs, etc. Alternatively (depending on how nature focused you are and how attached to your spellcasting levels you are) you could take a level or two of Ranger (for Track, and Two Weapon Fighting might be helpful if you are using a quarterstaff).

Yeah, Ranger is a good fit for flavor. I would even take it to level 4 to get the animal companion. Walking around with your dog, or riding to the rescue on your light horse. I would pick the dog for this character, from what you have described it just seems to fit. For the favored enemy you should probably pick the most common roadside bandits in your particular world, probably some type of Humanoid. Good luck and Have fun.

Good idea. I like the idea of multi-classing to ranger. I think I'd hold off on it until I get a better idea what the central antagonists of this campaign will be.

Any ideas of Prestige classes that might work?

If you don't mind losing caster levels then there is the Horizon Walker in the DMG.
