So my friend and I are starting a new campain and I am having the hardest time coming up with a background for my character. He is a Chaotic Neutral (or Good...open to either) High Elf (Gish) who will be partying with a Lawful Neurtal Dwarf, who he currently met through a stint of military service, but that is totally up to altering...here are his stats:

Aelreth Cyredneldth
Character Level 3 - 2 Fighter/1Sorcerer
(proficient with all simple and martial weapons and with light armor and all shields)
Metamagic Specialist (PHII),Armored Mage (No Spell Failure to light armor & shields,CM)
STR 14 +2 HD: 2d10+1d4+3 (21HP)
DEX 16 +3 AC: 17 = 10 + 4(Armor) + 3(Dex), Flat 14, Touch 13
CON 12 +1 Init: +3
INT 10 +0 Fort: +4 Court Blade: +6 (d10+3)
WIS 10 +0 Ref: +3 Long Bow: +6 (d8+2)
CHA 16 +3 Will: +2

Skills:
Bluff+8 Concentration+6 Intimidate+5 Know(arcana)+2 Spellcraft+0

Feats: Bonus: Weapon Finesse, Improved Racial Proficiency, Bonus: Combat Reflexes, Practiced Spellcaster

Spells per day: 5 Lv0, 4 Lv1, CL 3
Spell Lv Description
Prestidigitation 0 Minor trick, 1hour, 10ft. range
Read Magic 0 10min/level, personal
Light 0 like torch, 10min/level, touch
Ghost Sound 0 Figment sounds, 1rnd/level, close
Shield 1 +4 Shield AC, 1min/level, self
Color Spray 1 Refer to srd

My first thought was having him be the slums of the starting city, making his way as a male "escort" who had either:

1. Tired of his life in the slums and what he was doing to get by and enlisted to improve his station in life

2. Had a client who thought his possession of power/money meant that he could ignore the word "no" forcing Aelreth to physically defend himself leading to an arrest charge of assulting a noble which left him with the choice of exile or military life

Either way I dont see him handling the strict structure of the military very well, which gets him into a lot of trouble until he befriends the dwarf who is in need of major lessons in talking his way out of less than favorable situations. So they teach each other what the other lacks and when there time in the military is over, they decide to stick together and find work as mercenaries/hunt for fame and glory/(insert cliche reason to adventure here)

Please give me your opinions/ideas/critiques I really appreciate them
