| calypso02-25-07, 10:03 PM | I'm looking for suggestions. The framework so far (which is also mutable): 1) As a boy (around 14ish), some travesty was visited upon his family at the hands of a nobleman. 2) The boy swore revenge. 3) The boy joined some two-bit assassin/thug guild and received training. 4) The boy broke into the nobleman's home, but was expected. 5) The nobleman had the boy thrown into the Chateau d'If (that is, a prison from which there is no escape and people are forgotten). 6) The boy rots and stews in his cell for a couple years. 7) The boy meets someone inside that opens his eyes and teaches him. 8) The man (many years later) escapes somehow. 9) The man plans to ruin the life of the nobleman and everything he ever cared for. I'd like the character to have a bit of an "assassin" feel to him. Works stealthily, kills you while you sleep, etc. Thoughts? |

What if the guy who teaches him was actually a fiend in disguise? What if Edmond made a pact with this being in exchange for his vengeance? Then your character could be a warlock, and he'd use his fell powers to assassinate people. Remember, not all assassins have levels in the assassin prestige class. |

HE ahd respect adn he had honor but before he reunited with his lvoe he wanted ntohign mroe then to rain terror and death on shi enemies. I like a Rogeu/Monk multiclass for this guy lets him eb stealthy, keep to shi abckground and emerge as a an with a great deal of interesting adn skills. |

It's for an evil campaign, and I always considered Dante to be fairly evil by the time he got out of the Chateau d'If. I'm intrigued by the idea of being "mentored" by a fiend in disguise while in prison. I'll have to figure out why the fiend was in there, and how Edmund (I'll call him that for now :D) escaped. Maybe he was assisted by said fiend, in order to allow Edmund to spread terror. |

| calypso03-01-07, 04:40 PM | Alright, which do you guys think... I've decided to go with an assassin that uses Disguise to get close to his victims and then relies on poison and coup de grace (with his high strength) to dispatch them. I'd also like to keep spellcasting such that the character can cast invisibility and silence, though it's optional if someone posts a suggestion that really knocks my socks off. Ranger 1/Bard 3, w/Power Attack, Sudden Still, and something else or Ranger 1/Cleric 3 (Follower of Hiddukel, Trickery and Time domains) w/Power Attack, Still Spell, and Death Blow The former gives me a lot more skill points and makes my stat assignment easier (Str > Dex > Int > Cha > Con > Wis). The latter will give me better spellcasting with more hit points, but skill points are very scarce and stat assignment is worse (Str > Wis > Dex > Int > Con > Cha). Which one seems to make more sense, given my background? Any other suggestions are welcome, most books are available to me. |

Oh, and I liked this idea a lot. I'm contemplating if I'm going to use it, currently the scales are tipped toward 'yes'. |
