| Thrivol06-13-07, 11:08 PM | This the story of the druid of no name. The first thing he remembers is running from warforged in the mournland. As a wolf. With a wolf's mind. He remembers much about being a wolf in the Mournland. It just so happened that one day a druid was traveling in the Mournland. He saw the wolf and noticed it was magical in nature. He sought why, and cast a spell to disrupt its magic. Lo and behold, an elf appeared. The elf was, in fact, another druid who had been in wolf form during the Mourning. He survived, but was trapped in the form, losing his mind. On his person, when he finally became elven again, was a diary. From the diary, he learned he had noble blood, but that he preferred nature to the elven cities in Aeranel. In the end, he ran from his house to join the Last War for Valenar. Presumably, he was in a battle for Valenar when the Mourning occured. After reading his diary, he traveled with the other druid to Sharn, and his adventure began. He does not know his name, but has taken to calling himself simply Wolf. Yeah, badly written, but I'm in a hurry. Add suggestions please! |

| Saicotic06-14-07, 07:59 AM | That's honestly not bad. Simple, and to the point- also alleviates the need for such facts as his age, talents, etc. Having a character with no history also makes for a good possible adventure seed. My only suggestion is to make his name a little more foreign- "Wolf" in another language. Theres a gazillion dicitonaries out there for your more magical terms- elven, klingon, whatever- since "Lupin" is a bit too much of a Harry Potter throwback, and opens you up to quite a few jokes from other players. |
| warwinner06-14-07, 08:38 AM | You also remember a strange person, who when you were a wolf, fed you, talked to you and protected you on occasion with magic. Now that you think of it, he probably knew of who you really were and could have easily freed you with magic and made you back to an elf.But he didn't, Why ? |
| Thrivol06-14-07, 06:12 PM | Thanks for the suggestions and comments. I have an updated version now. Draug (Elf Druid 4, using the Shapeshifting varient in the PHB2) Draug, in his normal form, is an elf with a stocky build. He has clothes fit for traveling, along with a backpack. He had two weapons: a fine longsword and a longbow. He looks almost feral, having stubble on his face. Draug is rarely in his normal form, however. He almost always appears as a strong wolf with a white coat of fur. Draug does not know his past. The first memory he can remember is being a wolf, with a wolf’s mind, and seeing a unique human-type creature. He can’t remember it well, but it was not natural. It fed Draug and left. Draug scavenged around the Mournlands for a long time, until he met Tald, a druid. Draug was still a wolf, but Tald detected that Draug was unnatural. He cast a spell to dispel magic on Draug, and Draug reverted to being an elf. The first days of being an elf were difficult for Draug. He regained his mind, but his memories were lost. Tald led Draug out of the Mournlands to New Cyre. Draug had on him when he reverted to an elf a diary. After learning about the Last War and reading the diary, he figured out parts of his past before being a wolf. Draug was born of a noble house in Aerenal. The diary did not say which one. Draug supposedly grew weary of an aristocrat life, so he secretly trained as a druid. He ran from home to Valenar, when he became a soldier. Draug is not certain, but he believes that he was in wolf form during the Mourning, which caused him to lose his mind and become a wolf. Tald taught Draug about Khorvaire, then left to the Eldeen Reaches. Draug went to Sharn, to search for clues about his family. The diary did not have his name in it, so Draug still does not know his past. Draug makes decisions quickly, but not without thought. He tries to do good acts, but often Draug’s inner beast causes him to perform some evil acts. Draug can typically control his viscous nature, but during and after battles, the beast often takes control. Very few foes of Draug that surrender in battle live. So who is the being that Draug remembers? It could be anything, but I was personally imagining it was a Daelkyr, but it is the DM’s call as to what it is. I was imaging the Daelkyr felt either pity, perhaps, as Draug was a twisted mockery of himself. He may have also found it crueler to leave Draug as the wolf than to kill him outright. |

| Thrivol06-14-07, 07:56 PM | aren't longswords not only metal, but if it was somehow made from non metal, aren't Druids still non proficient? The whole non-metal thing only applies to armor. Druids can wield metal weapons without a penalty. And elves are proficient with longswords and longbows. |
