Okay, so I've got a Rogue 3/Sor 2/ Mindbender 7 ready for a one-off adventure this coming Thursday. My idea of his personality is an extreme case of celebrity complex... he's almost beyond charismatic, and he knows it. Everyone practically worships him, and that has gone to his head, such that the people who succumb to his magic and charm (which, at +36 diplomacy, +35 bluff and +34 intimidate, is nearly everyone) are seen as inferior to him. He can control them, so he can't consider them on the same level as him.

At the same time, he isn't evil... he doesn't wish ill for people, he just considers them to be his servants. Adventures mainly out of boredom, since the people in all the towns he's been to have been so easy to manipulate, maybe something interesting will happen if he goes out somewhere.

So... there's personality, and below is his crunch... but I don't have a name for him yet, or physical description, or backstory. Any ideas?

Other thing is tips for how to play him. He's telepathic and has a ring of invisibility (as well as +17 move silently), so his presense will mostly be felt as a very convincing voice in the heads of those I wish to talk to. As that's a little unusual, ideas of how to make it work would be appreciated.

This sounds like a classic tale of a kid who got picked on a lot while he was small and who, lacking the physical strength developed his arcane talents up to the point where he could get back at them.
Realizing his own power he began to see everyone as weak and inferior. After all what kind of person are you if someone can control you with a mere thought.

Because he considers physical strength to be hopelessly inferior against his mental prowess he hasn't done anything about his body. So he either still appears as thin and scrawny or he has filled out a bit.

He considers everyone inferior to him so he pities them and strives to make their pathetic lives a little easier. Like feeding the ducks in the winter when the pond has frozen over.

You need to talk party dynamics with the other PCs... I see this character being a mild problem... like when he tries to dominate them.

Good point. I'll try to clear that up ahead of time... basically tell them that this character is so charismatic that his companions all love him. Sounds contrived, I know, but if they love him, they won't do anything which would cause him to dominate them.

Perhaps in time he can realize that the other PC's can excell in their own way and he could learn to respect them in time.

I would say it's not because he is charismatic that everyone love him. Many politician are very charismatic people, that doesn't mean everyone love them. What is sure is when he speaks, everyone listen, and no one would dare to interrupt him.

You might tell the other players he is almost hypnotic, and they should have to "weak up" and think a bit before answering him. He should speak loudly, and insist on the last word of each sentence, so everyone have to listen the following sentence. When you speak telepatically, speak in a cardboard cylinder to create some echo.

I disagree. He still has 3 rogue levels before any arcane talent, and his skill ranks are not magical at all. As a child, he would have been respected by all. Perhaps should he be a young noble, educated to lead people? Or a child who used to accuse his brother of his own misdeeds.
