Going to be starting a new character soon, and he's a devoted follower of the older PC's exploits.

Synopsis: Party went to this town called Deepwood and got into a fight (while trying to help) and part of the town burned. Town elders much later hired bounty hunters, PC's killed bounty hunters and were mad at the town so they razed it. They found a loony later on in another town who had heard and was in pseudo-worship of them, they gave him money and told him to start a cult...as a joke. But it has blossomed!

The cult of the 'Deepwood Destroyers' was born, it has charming slogans like "finish what you started!" etc. Dispite the name they aren't so bad of guys...they do their dirty work but also their good works for communities/families.

Any good traits/flaws a basically faith blinded worshiper might possess? Lemme know

Also any good ideas of PrC's that might reflect this nature (devoted defender maybe?) I'm open to any and all suggestions!

I believe that I have 2 possible routes to take:
- straight melee type protector/lap dog/follower
- more cleric-melee type protector/healer/councel

Alignment will be most likely N/NG/CN

I'm not sure your alignment choices quite fit there; a blindly faithful cultist sounds a little more lawful to me - lawful-neutral or -good perhaps?

It's probably worthwhile being careful about it, too - this kind of character, whose motivation is a deep devotion to another PC, is getting dangerously close to Mary Sue territory.

And now, onward. Depending on how fanatical a worshipper you are, you might have a few odd traits.
You might spring vehemently to their defense against *anyone*, for even the most minor transgression.
You might consider a suitably single-minded bard, devoted to the idea of creating a legacy for his beloved champions.
You might nick bits and pieces of their gear, to try and be closer to them or to emulate them - and then pin it on other people, to see your heroes in action.
Depending on how weird you feel, you might even want to try killing one of them - after all, you're a fanatical worshipper. How couldn't they ascend into goodhood, to smite ungrateful villages.
If there's one main focus for this worshipping, you might consider being insanely jealous of the other party members, stealing the time and attention of your idol. The same goes for passersby who might engage in idle chatter.
You might buy them gifts and offerings. Constantly.

And that's about all I can think of right now. I'd still suggest watching for the MS risk.

perhaps i'm an idiot, but what is this mary sue thing you speak of?

Otherwise i love the ideas, and yeah the allignment will go lawful, you're right there.

'Mary Sue' (and maybe her close friend, Gary Stu) is a term, often derogatory, for a certain style of character in fiction or roleplay. The character whose background is a non-stop angstfest, brimming with darkness and despair and the cliche Dark Secret, who is there to be deeply in love with (or to be loved by) other characters and/or dies dramatically, that character is probably a Sue.

Just curious (not wanting to de-rail the thread) but could you name any other stereo types?

I read a lot and you named half the characters in many novels. Strangely enough mostly mangas (but most of those are never original, which is a shame)

could allways have them do deeds in thier idols honor. They could go around raping and pilaging and spreading tales that it was an act of thier god. However you could also make them hold festivals to your characters. They could go to the village sight and grovel erecting statues and having human sacrifices of escaped residents of that town. i would make the leader the guy wo oriinally got the money and have him claim to be a cleric but in actuality be a sorcerer who is very confused about what he is casting
