Lord Trebonius Urlo the High Hand was an epic level Human Paladin (L/G) dedicated to the worship of Heironious and advancing the cause of the Silver Chalice Knights. He successfully led a dozen and a half solo missions into the Abyss, paticularly working against Graz'zt.

Though the Dark Prince try and destory the High Hand, Trebonius Urlo always escaped with his life, and always his exit left the Abyss weaker then when he entered.

Finally Demogorgon intervened. In one swift and unexpected move the Demon Prince snatched up the Paladin and imprisoned him one of Abysm's many underwater dungeons.

Trebonius was then driven mad in isolation, slowly, as was the whim of Demogorgon. From this point Demogorgon labored over the psyche of Trebonius Urlo, weilding the Abyss herself to alter him.

Emerging from Abysm was a changed man. No longer the epic level Paladin Trebonius Urlo the stern champion of good, but instead Elrag Bellophron, a low-level Warlock plagued with the dark things that go bump in the night.

Demogorgon stroked his ego by puppetting his new toy in front of Graz'zt, showing his closest rival the extent of his power. Elrag was then turned out onto the Material Plane, sent to openly mock Heironous, increase his own power, and ready the world for the coming invasion from the 88th layer of the Abyss.

Thus is the fall of Trebonius Urlo the High Hand, and the coming of Elrag Bellophron, Red Warlord of Abysm.

So, what do you all think? Cliche' or inovative? What should I alter and what should I leave untouched?

Thank you.

Being frank (ie, warning you may not like this).

The paladin would have been remade as a blackguard, not a warlock. No warlock could properly reflect that background (for one thing Trebonious would have an obsene STR and CON without all the paladin levels). In effect, the epic paladin would be far better (useful to demogorgon) as a blackguard than as a warlock.

So I have to say cliche.

An epic paladin would take ages for this to work, ie; more than his natural lifespan. Advantage of having a direct link to the divine. If he reached epic-level his faith and conviction would sustain him indefinately.

The blackguards son possibly, kidnapping the paladins son, more interesting.

And a paladin snatched up by demogorgon is grounds for divine intervention. Hieronious would just Miracle him obliterated and True res him.

Not to mention this guy is an epic lvl member of the Silver Chalice Knights, a knightly order of no small means. If one of their leaders is being held prisioner in hell, i recon most of the order would be mobilised to go get him back.

Depending on how *epic* the character is, the guy might be a living ledgend amoung his piers.

Finally, if you get past all this, i gotta agree with Stormbrand, a blackguard is more likely than a warlock (however unlikely it still remains).

Just a quick question, how did he lead solo missions? Who was he leading? Does he have a character quick such that he needs to talk leadership advice from himself?

I have a better questioin than leading solo missions.
How did he lead "half" a mission?
I mean, what, did he lead twelve missions or thirteen?
