| peloriansun03-31-08, 06:50 AM | I'm playing a grey elf wizard in my current game. The other two party members are a monk and crusader, so i thought taking leadership for a cohort how could heal would be a good idea. As i sat down and started statting the cohort out, i thought that having her be my daugther would be interesting, any tips on how to RP that well? |

Having your daughter (who you saw grew from a helpless infant) there could cause some tension because of that. So, by having her there, I can immediately imagine two reactions: 1. he's VERY confident in his daughter's ability to take care of herself. And why not? maybe your character trained her himself. Or maybe one of your good friends trained her. Or maybe your daughter has already shown an amazing display of strength before and has proven herself to be a competent adventurer prior. Whatever the case maybe, you trust her in powers, but you gotta provide a reason to. 2. he's going to be a little protective of her than say, a good friend who happens to be your cohort. This is not like having an Alfred around who can take care of himself. It's more like you took her as a cohort so that you could keep an eye on her yourself. Maybe you realize that if you don't take her with you, she's going to get into more trouble on her own anyway? Who knows! In any case, if that's you play your character, the GM might end up playing up the whole "daddy's little girl is growing up" angle. At least, that's what I would do if I were the GM. I would probably give your character plenty of opportunities to polish your shotgun in front of your daughter's teenage boyfriend/dates. |

| JaiaDrottsingr04-01-08, 10:23 PM | I would have the character accept, thinking that his or her daughter would just use this for their gym credit (cheerleading), and merely sit at the sidelines. And then, it turns out, she's actually taking tumbling! Oh, and she's dating the Varsity QB. "The only time you're allowed to touchdown is on the field, and not on my daughter!" ~ Overprotective PC father. Or, you could just go with her being a ****. "Holy Geeze and Crackers! Is that sex act legal in Faerun?" ~ Fellow party member, trying to psych out the Overprotective PC father. And then there's the less sexist, more wholesome and RP friendly route. Of course, since I sadly have never played with a group that would dare take this route (and the majority of other players have been females), I cannot help you there. |
