Hello. Well, here's the story. In my current D&D group, we are playing under my friend's DMing; however, I am going to be taking over when we are complete with his campaign, and I plan on tying my campaign to his, etc. My bard character is needed in my campaign as an NPC, and the DM needs a new necromancer/very evil-type character, so I am going to make a new character (starting at about level 6 or so). Now, he will be half-fiend and be a level 5 Cleric of the death domain, and then just starting Blackguard training at level 1. He will be half-fiend, half-human. Right now, where he is going to be taken into the campaign, the party is in a castle with many clerics, and he is the king's right-hand man. The problem is that I'm used to making good characters and I am not quite used to this degree of darkness in a character. I have a couple ideas, but I don't know how good they are. Does anyone have any starter ideas for backstories for such a character?

At first glance, an half-fiend human is the offspring of an human and a fiend.
The most common idea would be a Succubus or Erinyes who mated with an human and became pregnant; this idea is especially interresting if you decide your father is a paladin who thought he would have some good time with some girl before making his oath, or perhaps the fiend was disguise has his wife.
Another idea could be a woman who was raped by some fiend; this woman could have been a noble woman, who driven away by her family who thought she was tainted with evil. The woman raised her powerful offspring in the hate, and use him to take her revenge on her familly.
Sometimes, drow priestesses give themselves to some fiends to proove their faith in Lolth. Without being a drow, your mother could be an evil priestess who gave herself to a fiend. Then you were raised by that priestess' clergy.
But there is other ways to be an half-fiend. Perhaps did your mother traveled in a lower plane, or was victim of a powerful curse, while she was pregnant of you. Or perhaps were you yourself victim of some curse, or you undergo some obscure ritual to untap a fiendish heritage, something like the Dragon Disciple PrC.
