07-18-07, 10:00 AM When I was but a child, a terrible calamity befell my family. My mother was a lawful and good cleric, my father was a paladin, and my brother was being trained in the divine arts as well. One night, my brother slipped into my parents room and slit my mothers throat while she slept. my father awoke, to see his son standing over his mothers bloody body, covered in her blood. My father and brother faught, as my brother attacked father as well. Father won, but feeling the pain of losing his wife, and the regret of slaying his son, he took his own life as well.

I woke up the next morning, only to find the bodies decomposing in the bedroom. I was only 10 years old at the time, and I have lived on my own since then. I do not know the truth of why my brother betrayed the family, or why my father decided to end his own life, but one thing I do know... I hate paladins. I hate Clerics. I hate all those that rely on the gods to do their will. It is my strong belief that the gods made my brother do as he did and kill my mother, and that if my father had not relied on the gods to save his family, he too would be alive.

My name is Deathbringer, because I am living for one reason only. I am here to bring death and misery to this world. I will not rest until the entire world has felt the pains that I felt as a child. I travel from town to town, using my mind-controlling powers to force families to fight amongst themselves, to kill each other, to do as I see fit.

hrm... I'm trying to make a history for my chaotic evil psion telepath, who serves no diety, and so extremely psychopathic (he likes to carve the skin off of people, collect their heads, and so forth...

Maybe I can get some help or advice? My story feels like its just not... right.

Not tryin to bag you or anything, but the character doesnt make much sense. He made this bizarre conclusion that the gods were to blame for his families death, then he decides to go round making other families tear themselves apart too.

How did that decision come about?

And why does he collect body parts?

I get hating the gods... but become a Ur Priest or something.

It sort of reads like you want to play an insane, chaotic evil character and threw a story together about why your allowed to do the most vile things possible.

This guy seems like he would be a good BBEG but really wouldnt work well in a party, even a party of other evil characters.

To be a 'good' (ie: realistic) chaotic evil character, put yourself first and dont care about how many people get hurt when your going for what you want, and dont let any law stand in your way from achieving what you want.

You can do that without being a psychopath.

Again, not ripping you here, i just dont think that this character is playable.

07-18-07, 11:44 AM Maybe his family was slaughtered by rogues or assassins, because his father was a threat to some powerful evil beings.But instead of fighting evil, he decided that gods are impotent to protect their faithful.He has become an atheist and goes mad when he sees people worshipping or praying or aholy warriors.He tries to bring misery to them secretly instead of the blessings they pray for or makes them fight each other.He also steals/takes their holy symbols and wealth/valuable possessions [leave headcollecting and psychopathicness to bbegs]

07-18-07, 12:49 PM First off, you might want to seek professional help to control your rage and anger.
Secondly, I think the character concept is not something that should be a PC. Not only would this character not fit into a group, he would be completely outcast from society ( even most normal evil socieities, which makes roleplaying difficult at best).

I would also agree that CE evil does not mean you are a sick tiwsted psychopath (unless you are a sick tiwsted psychopath) I am not trying to pass judgement, but I have found over the years, that people who play these kind of Brutal, Nonsensical characters have rage issues.

Obviously your character is hurting because of the death of his family, so why would he want to inflict that pain upon others (especially for no reason?)

Thats just my two cents.

07-18-07, 01:02 PM It's funny, everyone so far has made very valid points, but none have touched on what bothered me: How did he know the sequence of events that transpired? Finding bodies without a note or something the next morning does not give insight into who attacked who and why, unless the 10-year-old is a forensic expert as well as a psycho???
