I am working on a character concept (need it for tonight) that is a CN priest of Boccob. I have decided I want him to be fixxated with abberations and dark magic (spells with an Evil descriptor) but I also need him to have heroic characteristics for the specific campaign. I am thinking he is willing to help people for selflessly but has a willingness to do things for knowledge which might be considered evil coupled with his derrangement i thought this would be CN.
What I really want is a class and race suggestion, I am considering the Archivist from Heroes of Horror and the core Cleric but if you can think of another class that would be good I am open to suggestions. Fo race I have considered Human or Elan (from XPsionicsHandbook) because they are an aberation. I also need some ideas for spells because I can't find any abberation style spells that would be allowed (there is the Aberate wizards spell in BoVD but I don't let my players use the book when I DM so I am not going to use it when I play).
For Books I have all the coer + XPsiHB, CAd, CD, Herores of Horror and almost all the Dragon mags from the last 2 or 3 years.

P.s. sorry if there are errors in the psot, I am in a hurry. I have to get to class. :bored:

I think that your character concept needs a little bit of refinement. Why does he do good? His interest in evil magic explains why he wouldn't be a good alignment, but why wouldn't he be evil?

Perhaps he is one who sees himself as righteous, but prefers that people who desire a certain good end do not question the methods. He particularly sees danger in reckless or unstable spellcasters- mentally unstable casters, wild mages, priests of unpredictable deities, and perhaps even bards and sorcerors- but can't see any similarity to his own use of magic, which involves darker elements of magic.

On second thought, this description tends towards law, not chaos. Still, it's a suggestion.

Well, thank you for the feedback but I think I am going to have to scrap this character concept. I have been batting it around for several days and I just don't think it will fit what the DM is going to want from the game. I will probably recycle him as an NPC so I can use some of the materials that would be out of bounds as a player. Oh well.
