I will be playing a NE Lizardfolk Fighter 4/Thayan Gladiator 3 named Thrisssalk, and I'm looking at developing his personality. As far as backstory it is fairly simple. He was a member of a tribe of Lizardfolk that lived on the Thayan plateau. He was captured during a slaver run at a young age and forced into slavery in the arena. He grew up in the arena as a slave/servant and was eventually thrown into the arena itself when his owner felt he was large enough to put up some sport. His career was a modest one, he never lost a match, but that isn't saying much when they throw you against human rabble.

He was eventually bought from the slaver that captured him by one Varkout Pital, who petitioned to have him undergo the ritual to make him an actual Thayan Gladiator. After a while longer Pital has freed Thisssalk and now employs him as a treasure seeker.

Thisssalk does not fear many physical opponents but has a healthy fear of all things magical. He does not worry about items of magical power, having been given them to make him a better combatant, but does not like men who directly weild magical power.

Anyone have any further suggestions on how I can flesh out this character?

Well, you are looking for attitude for him, I have something:
-Annoyed of his slavery, he likes fighting and he is a little arrogant. Very quick to anger and has attitude prolems toward humanoids such as Humans and elves.

Hope it helps,
-Garidas

Lizardfolk get multi-attack as a free feat,,so an amulet of natural
attacks is great for them.

Speak mostly in grunts and keep to yourself. When someone tries to stop you from getting to somewhere you want to go, calw and bit. Show no mercy.

Yeah, make him show how painfully obvious it is that he is truly ****** off and hates everyone else for the most part if he has a decent wisdom score. He'd realize that lizardfolk or quite foreign and alien to mammals, and they may quite clue in he's not the friendliest fellow.

Thanks guys, this is really helpful. Where would I find Amulet of Natural Attacks, it is not in the DMG.

Don't forget that as a reptile, your mind would probably work in a completely different way than most mammals. You would likely assess most other creatures based on very simple criteria; 1) Can I eat it? 2) Can I mate with it? 3) Would it's continued existence benefit me in either of the above criteria?

Just a thought.

Although there is nothing in the rules about it, since the character is cold blooded, you could have him get drowsy at night.

Play as though he is having trouble staying awake, or its a strain to do so. Make him grouchy as all hell, dont reply to anyone or take strenious actions unless you completly have too.

Also, im not sure on this... it depends on how reptiles reproduce, if the females go on some form of 'heat' or if there is a mating season, perhaps your character can go troppo then.

Start looking for female lizardfolk, then just take on the largest creature around that you can find to prove yourself to her.

Hope this helps some.

OOO, i like the hangover idea for when it gets colder, that will all depend on what sort of area we are in, but I like it. As for the eat it/mate it/benefit me part, you have to remember that would be a little scued, him being a gladiator, so it would probably be more like 1)does it want to fight me 2) do I want to fight it 3) do I want to eat it 4) any possibiliy of a "good time"? And for some reason I have the desire to refer to most humanoids as 'meatsacks'.
