So I'm playing in an evil campaign and as the character with the most motivation, I've taken it upon myself to start a cult to Asmodeus. I ran it by the DM before we began and he okayed it, but said that I'd have to fill in the blanks for him regarding the devils, the powers I serve, the nine hells and so forth. The Manual of the Planes has some really good info on the plane of Baator (go figure), and the BoVD stats out the 9 lords and some of their minions. Dicefreaks also has a pretty good supplement that may DM may or may not decide is canon. However, nothing I've referenced other than the rather skimpy army in the Heroes of Battle book mentions how the baatezu are organized. In spite of this, every Monster Manual entry of theirs emphasizes how rigidly organized they are by station and caste. Are there any existing hierarchies for them written out anywhere? And if not, anyone got a few vague ideas to hopefully kickstart my inspiration? Thanks in advance.

The hierarchie is the same as the CR of the creatures, the weakest are at the bottom and the strongest are at the top.

For their formations and such, id use dwarven or traditional human formations, tight packed regiments or the same type of unit, archers in the back, scouts out front, heavies comming in behind.

These guys are organised and well prepared, but have fewer numbers than the demons, their tactics allow them to battle them more effectivley (since demons pretty much just run at the enemy in one big mob)

Hope this helps somewhat.

Add in some exotic maneuvers reflecting their outsider status.

They could gate in reinforcements on a large scale when needed. So maybe a hole squad retreats to do this and then recharges while the former front squad retreats to repeat this tactics.

They tend to absuse their lesser troops - so ad in some legions of Lemures that are canon fodder and nothing else.
