I still feel this build isn't quite right, so I've posted it up so you guys could tweak/bash it as much as you feel is right. If I screwed up here, I appologize.

And as a pirate, I want him to have a purpose with being on land, in the middle of a demintional traveling party.

Why short sword? Seems to me he'd be using a scimitar or long sword.

edit: oooh...or carry the scimitar in one hand..and the pistol in another. During range combat your turn the pistol around and treat it like a club.

I see you have the basic mechanics of your character worked out but what is it that makes your character tick. What lead him to the life of a dread pirate, where did the desire to travel the planes come from?

Whilst the stats, skills and items are important to make a survivable character it is personality, quirks and an solid reason and desire for the adventuring life that will drive the character and make it a memorable one.

If you close your eyes and picture your character it he a collection of equipment hanging from a blank slate? What does he wear? does he have a catch cry? is there a final goal in mind or will he keep adventuring until it kills him?

IMO it is these things that will make a character worth playing.

P.s. forgive the pun in the title

Dimensional traveling party?

Maybe he's searching for a dimensional ship, one that can travel the planes

Why not give him the inteligence bumps first and the Dex bump later? If his Int hit 20 four levels earlier, then he'll have 4 more skill points to burn.

This seems more like a "Character Optimization" aka min-max board question. Unless you are looking for how to make him a "character with character".
