Connel d'Cannith, born into the house in 976 YK, to the couple of Morianna and Indiago d'Cannith, Connel being their first, and only, child. As the only child, Connel claims a rather close connection (bloodline-wise) to a famous member of the house: Merrix d'Cannith. Related directly by blood, Merrix is Connel's great grandfather via his father, Indiago. Though admittadly not the closest connection, this does ensure that the House keeps high hopes in the line producing another genius such as Merrix.

Connel's life, however, was hardly one of leisure and doting upon by family and friends. His parents (Indiago a member of the Fabricators guild, Morianna of the Tinkers guild) led a rather rough and tumble, adventerous lifestyle, as their work during the war led them-and the then young Connel-across Khorvaire. Devices needed testing, research, implimentation, augmentation, repairing, and more, and materials needed garnering and gathering, and the adventerous duo, with their child, were there. However, the two hardly neglected Connel, teaching and nurturing the boy as he grew, showing him the various aspects of the magic that made life (and the war) possible, as well as listening to the various accounts of soldiers and more.

Unfortunatly, such a whirlwind lifestyle didn't last forever. On an expedition to Xen'drik with a team of over 30 individuals in 983 YK (including a few members of Finders, Transportation, and Couriers guilds), one of the few places where the husband and wife team didn't dare bring their child, the entire team simply vanished, communications cut off one day. A search and rescue team funded by the Houses involved turned up nothing, save one thing: Indiago's journal, the old muddied thing. No signs of struggle were found, nor was a trace of any of the memebers located despite the best efforts the Houses could put together.

Indiago's journal, after a routine inspection to see if it contained any clues to the disappearance, was then passed down to the young Connel, who was informed of his parents fate...Or to be more precise, of the knowledge that there was no determining what fate, if any, they met. The journal itself was a rather vast collection of many things, including notes, stories, and beautifully rendered sketches (Indiago possesed a well-developed talent for drawing).

All were highly detailed, and all of wonderous places, strange things, and more. Such images and writings would be what eventually spurred Connel onward, inspiring him to his current role in life, and to follow in the footsteps of his father-a move which eminantly pleased the House, as Indiago was a highly skilled artificer. It would be this journal that set him on his path in life...

As he grew, he proved to be a bright and particularly skilled child, the House easily recognizing his talent with the workings of artifice, and putting them to ample use within the House's primary trade. However, Connel's own interests guided him as much as the House that raised him, and they all too soon recognized that Connel had developed a wanderlust similar to what spurred his parents on. Choosing a less sedentry lifestyle, Connel made a move that surprised many of the House members: He joined the working staff of the Korranburg Chronicle as a column writer.

Of course, he didn't shirk his core duties to the house, either, rather, he used his new job as a move to promote the workings of the house, and settled on a role of wandering artificer, doing work for his House even as he wrote and illustrated stories, accounts, and news from all over the known world. This would allow him to not only fulfill his duty to his House, it would also ensure he would likely have a medium with which to bring to others what he had all of his life, courtesy of his father's journal.

That sense of wonder, the ability to teach and entertain whilst doing so, as well as the chance to see the things he had only read about before, and to give the honest truth to the masses. Though of course, readers of his articles would have to be content with Connel's own masterfully drawn pictures as a substitute for seeing such things, for he too possesed a keen skill with such, much like his father did.

As a scribe for the most widespread news institution in all of Khorvaire, Connel is constantly on the move, and is always looking for the next big story or exciting news, writing detailed reports, and always trying to meet his deadlines, and finds himself coupled with many adventerous groups as he goes along, for they seem to be the ones always in the thick of things...

Well... seems to fit to me, if your DM will allow it. It's a rather high-powered character in terms of connections, wealth, etc., but if your DM will allow it, and you're playing in a high-powered campaign, go for it.

...Wha? He's as rich (or poor) as any character of approriate level. Just being in a House doesn't mean you have money.

As for connections, he won't have Favored In House, because his great grandad isn't exactly looking to him to be the next great wonder, and nor is anyone else.
