The biggest part of this post is my character's stats, and the classes i am trying to use and what i want out of them, so just skip down to the long -------- line to read the back story if you can help me with that. I know character stats can be really boring, but i am trying to use the back story to justify the character's choice of classes to the DM.

I had an idea for a hengeyokai hare (from OA) that is focused mainly on his shapeshifting ability, but also follows the divine path for healing. I wanted to know if this background story worked in shaping this character's class development so i can help use it to explain why my character should be allowed to use these PrClasses.

Character: Lv 10 (LA+1 paid off)
Benny the Boy Bunny
Hengeyokai Hare
Ascetic Favored Soul of Einius 7/Shapeshifter 1/Warshaper 2
Neutral Good
Healer and Animal Care Giver

STR 18 (+4 from morphic body)
DEX 15 (+2 when in Hare Hybrid Form)
CON 18 (+4 morphic body)
INT 12
WIS 14
CHA 20 (+2 from ascetic stat boost)

BAB: 6/1
AC: 21 (10 +7 exalted bonus +2 dex +1 natural +1 deflection)
Saves: 14/10/10
HP: 85 (10d8 +40)
Spd: 30ft (40ft when in hybrid form)

Feats: Weapon Focus (Quarterstaff)*, Sacred Vow, Vow of Poverty, Weapon Spec. (Quarterstaff)*, Touch of Golden Ice, Power Attack, Resounding Blow, Exalted Wild Shape, Kiai Shout, and Quell the Profane.

Class Abilities: Simple Weapon Prof., Light Armor Prof., Spontanious Divine Spell Casting, Exalted Bonus AC +7, Endure Elements, Energy Resistance 10 Fire, Sustenance, Exalted Bonus Deflection +1, Exalted Resistance +1, Exalted Ability Score Mod. +2 (Cha), Wild Shape (3/day), Exalted Natural Armor +1, Mind Shielding, Morphic Immunities, Morphic Weapons, Morphic Body (+4 to Str and Con), Exalted Damage Reduction 5/magic.

Species: Hengeyokai Hare
A shapeshifting core species from Oriental Adventures that can switch between a normal looking human form, a hybrid form of a human and rabbit, and an actual rabbit form as many times a day as he has character levels. Inherent -2 to wisdom and a +2 to dex only while he is in hybrid form and a 40ft move speed when in hybrid form. LA +1, but i plan on buying it back for 3,000 EXP.

Core Class: Favored Soul of Einius
The favored soul is a core class from the minitures handbook, and Einius is a diety from ghostwalk who is known as the foster father of all living things. I thought Einius would work as a diety for my character since both are focused on healing and tending to animals. Favored Soul offers Weapon focus and specialization with the dieties favorite weapon (Quarterstaff) and grants the ability to cast divine spells spontaniously as a sorcerer does arcane spells. BAB as a cleric, no domains, cannot turn undead, and base saves as a monk. Also, at every 5th level the favored soul gains energy resistance 10 to any one energy type and cannot select the same type more than once. At level 17 they grow wings and gain a fly speed.

PrC 1: Shapeshifter (Oriental Adventures)
This class basically allows for the character to continue to advance in whatever spell casting class they had before, but at about half the rate (every other level they get one level in an existing spell casting class to determine how many spells they can cast and how many spells they know). It also allows them to begin learning the wild shape ability as a druid. The only prerequisits are the inherint alternate form ability (as a hengeyokai has), a BAB of +3, and 10 ranks of concentration. This would allow my character to explore more shapechanging abilities.

PrC 2: Warshaper (Complete Warrior)
This class is a quick PrC class of only 5 levels which grant bonus abilities to those with the ability to use the wild shape ability (granted by druids or the shapeshifter PrC class). It begins by allowing for more adaptable forms and strengthening the body of the shapeshifter and it ends with the ability to morph faster in combat.

My progression:
I would take 7 levels of favored soul so i can gain some spontanious cleric casting abilities and get into the shapeshifter class, taking 1 level in shapeshifter PrC to gain the wild shape ability (3/day), and than taking all 5 levels of the warshaper PrC to gain the morphic abilities, and than returning to complete the shapeshifter PrC. Than I would return and start progressing with favored soul again. but that and the last two levels of the shapeshifter PrC would put my character at epic level, and since i would start this character at Lv 10, it would be a while before i had to deal with that.

---------------------------------------------------------

Benny the Boy Bunny lives in the land of my Dm's creation which has some aspects of OA and standard D&D. He is a Hengeyokai Hare that was rescued as a small child from the evil clutches of a band of Ravagers by some good ascetic monks. The monks took Benny to their monestary and cared for him, but they noticed that Benny was different than normal people because Benny the boy could become Benny the bunny and something inbetween. Benny also had a natural ability to heal small wounds and interact with nature and the monks encouraged Benny, both boy and bunny, to embrace the call to his healing nature.

When Benny was older (around 30 which is like 10 years short of adulthood for Hengeyokai) he went into the forest where the monks had rescued him years before and there he met an old man. The old man introduced himself as Einius, the Lord of Nature and told Benny that he had been given a special gift that he should foster and use to help protect all life. Einius than vanished and Benny returned to the monestary where he continued to live with the monks.

Benny would always return to the forest and would help the animals there and tend to their needs. He continued triaining in fighting using the Quarterstaff and also focusing on how to use his inherent morphic powers. Benny the boy could become a bunny and a boy bunny, but he also learned how to become other animals of the forest. As he helped the animals in the forest he would also observe them and learn from them the fighting style of nature.

Benny also continued to focus on how he could morph into other animals and his body was strengthened and toned. Now that benny has grown into an adult (even though the monks still call him Benny the Boy Bunny) he wishes to broaden his horrizens and seek out his own path.

OK, so what do you think? Do you believe that this back story justifies the classes that my character has taken? I dont want to sound like I am just making up a back story to justify what I wanted with classes and PrC, I just had an idea for this character and I wanted both the story and the classes to balance eachother out.

Advice, hints, critisism? Let me know. Even if you dont care, just reply with something like "Nods" or "Shakes Head" or whatever. Remember, replies tell people you care.

Um.....I wouldn't allow it in my game..

Reasons are you get all this....

1. God stats
It appears your starting stats are

14
15
14
12
14
18

That is a 46 point buy (including your stat increase at 4 and 8) or if you used them on cha then its only a 40 point buy

2. Spontaniously cast divine spells, fly, weapon focus, weapon specialiaztion and energy resistance
3. Shape shift

for only a +1 LA and you are going to just start out -3000 xp short of level 10 instead? I think the winged prc is itself a +1 or 2 LA and to get it just as a class feature with no +LA ?

I'd never allow this character in my world, to even consider it, I would say this would be at least a +3 LA if not 4. Maybe your DM will. Good luck

In my DM's games he allows us to roll 4 d6's for each stat and keep the highest 3. I rolled these stats in from of him at our last meeting.

As far as the classes go, the favored soul's ability to grant flying is only usable at level 17, which i wouldnt reach with favored soul.

The fit seems to be nice enough. He has the spontaneous "nature-child" casting ability from favored soul, and the shapeshifter and warshaper represent his capabilities as a shapeshifter.

I'm not sure if I remember warshaper 100%, but I think that those ability bonuses from morphic body apply only in your shapeshifted form. Do natural shapeshifters need to state one of their forms as their natural unmodified form, or does morphic body apply for all of their forms?

The criticism so far has been unfounded. People have criticized your base class, your PrCs and your race based on their power. FS is sub-par powerwise and in your campaign the PrCs , stats and race has been accepted by the DM so there is no point in criticizing them.

The only real question was whether the background fits his classes and the answer is a resounding "yes".
