Dragon Shaman Background [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-19-06, 03:25 AM am in the process of creating a dragon shaman character (first character). I am trying to make up some background for him, since i'm a newb i would like to know what the vets think. Mostly originality and plausibility.

Mathius Tamron was a lieutenant in his home kingdoms military. He and was sent to lead an attack on a neighboring kingdom. The enemy was led by a renowned archer by the name of Ferra Ventalis. Mathius boldly challenged Ferra in a duel, she put an arrow in his heart. Mathius' army was defeated and a few remnants managed to retreat, but Mathius was left for dead. After both armies had departed a mysterious hand scooped him up. He awoke at the bottom of the nearby lagoon, his heart floated mere feet in fron of him in the clutches of a blue dragon. From that point on Mathius was bound to the dragon's will. If he could find a way to remove the magical barriers that held the dragon within the lagoon he could have his heart, and freedom back.

07-19-06, 10:02 AM Sounds good to me. I am curious if your character want revenge on the dragon or if he's grateful because the end makes it a little fuzzy. Dragon Shamans seem almost fantically devoted to thier dragon of choice from the description given in the PHBII.

Perhaps your character has devoted himself to the dragon, hoping to obtain power enough to defeat Ferra when he meets her again. Other than that, very good job!

07-19-06, 01:39 PM at this point i don't really knwo what he wants. mostly just to be free of the dragon but to dot that he has to follow the power hungry tendecies of shamans. since i am new i am going to avoid stealing away the plot line with the dragon thing but maybe in the future we could follow it.

07-19-06, 06:58 PM whats his ailienment? perhaps his powers are not from trainig or the like. maybe they are just a side-affect. and why does he adventure? would't the dragon want him to stay there and defend him?

07-19-06, 07:45 PM He himself is lawful good but the dragon forces him to be lawful evil.

His is an actual dragon shaman, he would rather just be left dead.

he is adventuring simply to gain strength but is watchful of clues on how to remove the barrier. he has not actually met the party at this point (well happen soon). I think h is going to join them becuase they look like an experienced group and could help him gain power.
