Basically, so far the party has rescued the children of a village from a succubus and her band of merry demons, who were sacrificing them to the ghostly form of a hellfire wyrm to keep it imprisoned. Unfortunately, in rescuing them we woke the hellfire wyrm who escaped and made a swift exit to gain his strength. We later find out that there's something big brewing in the ranks of the evil dragons, and we're out to stop it. So, here's my Character (Human Monk 1 - Swashbuckler 5 - Dread Pirate 1 with 18 charisma - think "Dread Pirate Roberts" :)) ======================== As a child, William Winters enjoyed helping his dad (a fisherman) with is boat, but when he was 14, his parents died (quite naturally). With nowhere else to go, William joined a monastery, earning his keep sorting diamonds from the nearby mine. At 19, returning from the mines, he spotted a girl (Isabelle Goldman) tending her horse. He fell immediately in love. When the monks found out about William and Isabelle, they kicked him out onto the street. However, the monks didn't inform the mine of William's expulsion from the monastery, so he managed to liberate the monks of a few sacks of diamonds. He sold the duff ones to gullible fools in Waterdeep and used the money to buy a shop, setting up a jewellers (All that glitters) with the remaining diamonds. At 24, William and Isabelle were set to marry, but Will hadn't enough money for a wedding and was running short on diamonds. So he left the shop in Isabelle's charge and went off to earn his fortune as a sailor. 2 years later, William returned with money enough for a grand wedding, but found to his horror that not a month after he left, Isabelle sold the shop and married a nobleman (Count Severin Baudet). He took the diamond he'd chosen for the engagement ring before he left, and had it set into his tooth. The money he'd earned for the wedding, he spent on a fine rapier, and joined the pirate ship Endeavour as first mate. When Captain Xavier Ryan grew tired of the sea he retired (opening an inn in Waterdeep - The Buoyant Halfling) and William inherited ship and crew, becoming the Dread Pirate "Diamond Will" Winters. Two days ago, while continuing his search for a Wyrdstone, The crew of the Endeavour stumbled across a cave south of Waterdeep. Though rather than being greeted with the loot they'd hoped, they were welcomed by two very pointy dragons, one of which appeared to be made entirely of fire. The Endeavour didn't stand a hope against the 2 dragons and took heavy damage and casualties while trying to escape. Luckily the dragons didn't venture too far from the lair, and the remaining crew were able to get the ship to port in Waterdeep... Where they were immediately arrested. The crew were thrown into jail and Will was to be hanged in public at noon the next day. But, the jailer's daughter (Elizabeth De Marigny) took a shine to Will, and promised to help him escape, if he promised they could run away together and live on a tropical island somewhere. Will agreed (with absolutely no intention of going through with it). He instructed the girl to get his things to Xavier Ryan at the Buoyant Halfling, and she returned in the night with some Salve of Slipperyness. When it came to the hanging, after a suitably dramatic delay, Will simply slipped his hands from their bonds and his neck from the noose, bested the executioner and 2 guards and leapt onto a waiting horse. He galloped off with a smile and a wave to the cheering crowd, with a squad of guards making chase. ======================== The party has just killed a young green dragon, and is in Waterdeep selling off some of the loot. The idea is that they're directed to The Buoyant Halfling as Xavier Ryan is in the market for one of the items. Whilst they're there, a guy bursts through the door and leaps over the bar. The second he's out of sight, a squad of guards burst in after him. When Ryan's convinced them that he's not here, Will gets up and starts telling him about the dragon's attacking the Endeavour, the party overhears and have a new member :) I like it :) but can anyone spot gaping holes? or have better ideas for parts? |
