I am currently playing in a 16th level campaign, and up til now it has been a drow campaign. My DM has decided to spice things up a bit and is allowing us to alter our characters. I, loving to play drow, but not typical drow, wanted to try a totally new angle for me. So how about this, a drow being a Champion of Corellon Larethian? I think the idea is absolutely fresh and exciting, and this is how I was planning on doing it.
When he was born, he was born an albino drow. With the drow ideals of perfection and weakness, he was taken to the surface as an infant by his mother, a High Priestess of Lloth, and left for the wolves. It just so happens that a patrol of Moon Elves discover the infant and take him in. He is raised as a Moon Elf and espouses their ideals and beliefs. He later takes the path of a Champion of Corellon Larethian.
Now, what I have as an issue is this. Being that he is a drow, he has spell-like abilities. Never being raised in a drow city (his birthplace was Ched Nasad), how would he be able to use these abilities? Any ideas?

the left to the wolwes part semms a little weak to me, why not change it in your pally actually being born before the schism that created the drow?
may be he remained pietrified just before the great elven war and only recently he vas considered only an ancient beatiful statue in a temple of Corellon Larethian, untill a casting of stone to flesh accidentally(?) liberated him.

That's a pretty cool idea. Would he drop the spell-like abilities? Would I still have the +2 LA?

It will depend largerly on when you think the drow spell-like evolved and what generated them.

our unfortunate statue guy will lack any underdark related abilities (better darkvision etc.) and spell-like (whorth a full +1 LA) and may or may not have a spell resistence (worth the other +1LA)

I think I can deal without the spell-like abilities and the SR. My next question would be this, if I am playing a Ssri-tel-quessir, a dark elf (not a drow at this point), they were cursed into the drow form by Corellon Larethian. We all know what a drow looks like, but what did the dark elves look like? Were they similar to Moon Elves or Sun Elves? Were they taller than they are now? These things will help me alot! :)

A good mecanic to simulate the ancient Ssri-tel-quessir will be using the Star Elves (the more similar in characteristics to the drow) so probably he will end up apparing like a star elf with a darker tone of skin.
