Just wondering how you play a character with an addiction?

I am starting a new character and need some help with how to play the addiction part. And how would go about getting more of you’re "stuff"?

What are the effects of a drug?if it is like a halusinagen( I suk at speeling)( makes you see things) then have him always spacing out,and ignoreing the others, and saying stupid stuff.

if its a seddative( sleeping drug) then have them be mellow,( have it make them VERY paraniod, though)

As for getting more "stuff"Tell the DM your making a search check( or gather info?...Dunno really) to locate a seller.( maybe in the "underground" workings of the city, like the mafia.)

Also BoVD ( Book of Vile Darkness) has ALOT about drugs.( and cults)(and evil...evil is fun)

If I were you, I wouldn't make this drug addiction problematic. It's nice to have a partymember who knows how to make a party rock, but it's less nice when you fell in a pit fall and the only guy who can throw you a rope, is seeing pink elephants and won't be worrying (sp?) a long time about you.

The means to get your drugs is something you should talk about with your DM.
You might be able to harvest your "paddo's" yourself in the nearby woods, or you have a contact that sells you your fix. It could become a bit harder if your dealer was taken in by the guard and you are looking for a new reliable dealer.

If you really want it to be addictive, you could have some kind of deprivation system.

You'll have fortitude saves that increase in DC (because your body needs them and starts to act weirder by the day) and you'll have will saves (are you able to resist to your cravings or will you just wander around looking for a fix, perhaps even become aggressive when you don't find them).

I really think that the DC's for both saves should increase because the effects of your deprivation also increase. If you fail your checks, you'll suffer from some kind of temporary ability loss, but which ability is whole up to you.

Hope this helps,

Cheers
