| the_force_is_with_me12-19-07, 10:38 PM | Hey I am new to this and am needing help on a human druid back story. Mainly wild shape. What reson should my character have to be interestred in wild shape? |
| Terjon of the Blue Rose12-20-07, 06:18 AM | Fairly little to start us off with. The simplest answer is oftentimes the best though. A character who has never been comfortable with his own flesh, who felt himself not intended for the limited life of a human, may work well. A character like this can come from any number of backgrounds since it's an internally driving force. If you like I can try and help with a little more detail. Ignore the warning from any other posters telling you not to make that request.... I promise, no novels.... this time. |

| Terjon of the Blue Rose12-23-07, 07:41 AM | Like I said what you have is fairly open. I can give you a lot more detail if you pick the following for me to work from. Where are you from: I don't need a name here but I do need something generic to work with... city, village, farm, forest, druid circle, mining/logging/work town, etc. Who are you: Again the name is less important than the attitude you want. Are you angry all the time or curious? Do you suffer wanderlust or homesickness? A few traits for you characters personality will help. Name 1-3 people in your life: As simple as you lived most your life with your parents or in apprenticeship to a blacksmith. Were friend important to you as a child or were you interested in what the grown-ups were doing? Who did you admire growing up? You answer those 3 questions and I'll give you a full-blown background. If you can come up with a name for anything it'll help me too but names are trivial until I have a little to work from. The other suggestion I can make is to look at one of the many threads on how to make a character background. I'm pretty sure you can find at least one good link in the stickied thread with the FAQ's for this board. |
| I_roll_ones12-24-07, 11:09 PM | What alignment is this character? If he's CN, and follows a god, well, god gave him these powers to combat anything threatening nature! These are divine abilities, he should train to use them. God(Gods?) and or Nature would not have given the abilities to him if he wasn't meant to use them, and he should use any ability at his disposal to defend nature. If he's evil, he wants power, especially the power to rip normal people into tiny little bits if they dare interfere with his forest/desert/tundra/whatever. Touch his nature will you? Fleshraker to the face! If he is Lawful Neutral, then perhaps he prefers to fight as a bear in order to be strong enough to defend the forest without using armor or weapons. Using these might be too much like civilization for him, or have some other moral issue with it. Perhaps the metal to mine it or the wood to create it has to come from natural sources, and he's unwilling to take the chance that it was harvested benignly, and he doesn't know how himself. Or, it's simply too expensive, and he'll pass on having to save up money and trade with civilization if he can just turn into a bear instead. If he's Neutral Good, then perhaps that he trained in order to defend those who can't, and because many wood cutters would crap their pants and run away from a charging bear, thus leaving the area alone. For true neutral, (or another alignment, really) it could simply be a way to truly understand nature more, by becoming an animal of the wild and to understand nature from all perspectives. The cost of this is that he must use the power to protect nature. Also...What god, if any, will he be following? |
