| Evil O03-04-05, 03:33 PM | Ok Im getting ready for next weekends game and since my last char died in great pain last session I have to create a new! (if I want to play, that is) And since we do more roleplaying than fighting I came up with two chars that might be fun. And since I also have almost nothing when I start creating I have difficulties chossing: Here are the nominees: (I know, the amount of info is low) Druid, Gnome; likes the wood and the drugs it can give him, if no wood is nearby he can create them himself, wery animal friendly, will never walk underground unless his brother is in danger(and since he´s dead, he will never walk underground) talks to himself, not likely to be provoked unless by a dwarf, wich he hates. Spell domain, most likely Plant and like. Cleric, Human; I have no idea if diety or domains but he is the holiest of holy, he will never do anything his good MIGHT! not aprove!, he helps those in need of help, he will rather sleep in the barn than take a room from those who might need it, he will not tolerate profanity by those around him, he will bring justice to those on the wrong side of the law. Druid or Cleric? I will not tell you the rest of the party because then you might think "They need a Cleric, take him" or "The Druid might fit nicely with the Rogue and the Wizard, they are equally odd!". And the races will remain a secret aswell. But I will tell it is a 5 char party, we play in FR in the northestern area, we are 8 - 10 level and two of the other chars have 2 classes. I am allowed to use most WoTC books, but dont own Players Guide to Faerun or Races of Faerun so they are out of the question. Now plaese help me. Who do you think can be most fun to play, narkotic druid or holy cleric?? Evil O, changes are wellcome. |
| SmiloDan03-06-05, 07:56 PM | I would play the gnome druid, if only because you can get a riding dog animal companion and kick lots of butt. Also, I think it would be really fun to play a hippy-druid. Call everyone Duid. ;) I think the cleric would be hard to play, since it's more likely to upset the party...unless the party is all paladins or monks. |
| JaredSyn03-09-05, 03:20 PM | Well it depends do you want the character to kick butt, or heal it. If you want a powerful character that only requires a few stats to be such, then go Druid, even better a human druid. Druids are by far the best class in the game. See Uberlings Druid Handbook in teh optimization forum. |
| Dreaming Bard03-09-05, 04:06 PM | Well, maybe I'm just a gnome-lover, but it seems to me that you've put more thought into how you would play the druid, and well as the background. Besides, a druid can be a good healer, in a party without one. Its easy to say, I play the, ultimate good, but hard to do without more forethought. For you, Druid looks pretty good right about now. |
| Trydan03-10-05, 04:39 AM | I'd go with the druid. He has some healing spells, but can go on the offensive too. The shape-changing ability allows for some nice actions (such as scouting, running messages, evasion, getting into difficult to reach places). The only reason I would avoid druid is if the setting is inappropriate, such as a purely city-based setting or perhaps if you were in the Underdark. |
| Gnarl03-11-05, 06:01 PM | Without a doubt, go for the gnome. The concept is just fantastic. Your cleric idea is a bit, who could you say this without being rude, a bit too common, yeah that's the word. Besides being common, it's a real pain to have in a group. A chaotic barbarian is unlikly to start bar brawls without your 'authorisation', a sneaky rogue will not be able to steal, a wizard to fry a monster (and the farm the monster is standing next to) etc... For these specific reasons, unless the rest of the group is as narrow minded as your character and you might start a very interresting exorcism/inquisition like campaign, I would personal stick to the hippy (my opinion). |
