The only thing you want for sure is the Natural spell feat. If you prefer being a strong melee combatant, there is the Nature's Warrior PrC in Complete Warrior. If you prefer casting and the setting allows it, you could take the Stormlord PrC (can't remember the book, I think it was Complete Divine). These are the only good PrC's I can remember, there might be more. After choosing a path, strengthen it through feats. As a caster, take metamagic, spell focus, spell penetration, etc. Everything than improves your casting. The druid has offensive spells as well as healing spells, I'd say keep that versality of casting so you're prepared for the primary caster or healer of the group to go down. As a melee combatant, you must think of the creatures you can shift into, what your favorite form will be and what feats you could take to improve this and other forms. You should also have a look at armor that lets you keep the AC even when shifted - there are two possibilities known to me: 1) "Armor special ability: Wild" keeps your AC but the armor shifts into you new form. Its the expensive one. DMG pg219 2) "Armor special ability: Beastskin" keeps you armor worn, it shifts with the new form to suit it and uses a daily use of wild shape. Its the cheaper one. Complete Adventurer pg127. A druid I once created wore a Wild Red Dragonhide Full plate, it was really effective. Last but not least would be the Roleplay. Why is the druid adventuring? Does she return to her circle from time to time? What's her relation to her animal companion? etc. See the world through her eyes. Many druids lived their lifes only with druids, so the behavior of the other characters might appear strange or even abusive from her point of view. Never forget the character's heritage when roleplaying. |
