I just made a dwarven rogue, that I am really looking forward to playing, and just want some advice on which of these two prestige classes I should go with eventually.

Dungeon Delver: I was thinking of this, just because the whole living underground for a whole year without seeing daylight would be easy to explain......he is a dwarf. He could be the type of dwarf that doesn't really like other species too much, except for one of my fellow party members whom happened to end up in my town I'm from. He helped me out with something, so I decided that he is a decent partner, and will give him some time to prove himself or leave the group.

Outlaw of the Crimson Road: I like this one mainly for the fact that the group of people I decide never to steal from or do wrong, might end up giving me a place to stay. Of course I wouldn't steal from the clergy of good, lawful, or the neutral of both of those, plus chaotic good religions. The evil and more chaotic ones are free game I guess if my DM goes for it. I would have an outlook of protecting the poor and good, and stealing and punishing the evil, including dwarves (why would they get special treatment, cause I'm a dwarf? please).

I was just wondering if anyone had some experience with either of these prestige classes, if so, what info could you give me about it.

Also, I'm not keeping the Arcane Trickster prestige class totally out of the picture, so if you got a good one for that, let me know.

Whats your Dwarf's alignment?
Dungeon Delver is a nice PrC for a dwarf, but it gets 0 sneak attack progression. Means you're losing out on 5d6 Sneak Attack damage. And as a Dwarf, you already have Stonecunning, so thats a worthless ability of the Dungeon Delver for you.

Outlaw of the Crimson Road is one I've looked into for a character before as well. It doesn't get any Sneak Attack progression either, but it does get Ambush. Ambush only works on surprise rounds though, so it isn't very helpful for things like flanking. Also gets 6 skillpoints per level instead of 8.

Arcane Trickster is a great PrC on the surface, but when you play with the numbers you realize you need a rather massive investment in spellcasting levels before you can get into it, which means you won't be a very good wizard, and you won't be a very good rogue. Really designed more for a Wizard/Sorcerer with a level or two of rogue, not the other way around.

Overall though, I'd say go with the Outlaw of the Crimson Road if you just really want a PrC. Its got the most flavor, most fun to play really, and at least it isn't mechanically inferior. However, might I suggest playing just a straight rogue? Or perhaps a Rogue 19/Fighter 1? Rogues lose nothing in the long run from a single level in something else, and you don't need a PrC to use as a crutch for roleplaying an interesting Rogue.

I just finished the dwarf off today, except for the backround write up I'm going to do. He is NG according to the Hero Builders Guidebook alignment "test". I figured that was pretty good. He mostly does for himself, but tries to only steal from the richer people, and leave the poor alone, being he was poor once. He also doesn't really help his family, but doesn't do anything to harm them or wrong them, even though they disowned him.

I liked the dungeon delver class just because of the trap sense thing(not for sure what it is or does, don't have the book right now). The stonecunning isn't something I really cared about, just the trap sense thing. The sneak attack didn't matter much to me.

Outlaw of the Crimson Road seems better, though, being he does for himself mostly, but doesn't harm one group of people. Also, I liked the fact that he got to have that group as a possible place to get things, or hide if needed.

Thanks for the insight, I didn't take into consideration the whole sneak attack thing. I was more interested in how I was going to roleplay him, and Outlaw seems more like the better choice.
