Hi everyone,

My DM just decided to start a new game in Eberron with 1st level characters. So far i kno i want to play a Duskblade either human or warforged. The problem is i have no idea how duskblades would fit in Eberron. Anyone have good knowledge of the campaign that could help me out here?

Any advice is appreciated.

As basically a fighter/spellcaster combination, I'd see them very well as graduants from Rekkenmark Academy in Karrnath. The Karrns are the most martial of the Five Nations, and there seems to me to be a certain pragmatism to the Duskblade that would make it more appropriate to the Karrns than the more scholarly Aundairians.

If your DM allows it, there are rules for an affiliation with Rekkenmark Academy in Five Nations, too, which might help the character. This would work better for human than for warforged, though, as warforged do not have much status in Karrnath, never mind what the Treaty of Thronehold says.

Another group I could see duskblades working with rather well is the dragonmarked house Deneith, as an elite troup of soldiers (whether mercenaries, their own guards and agents, or Sentinel Marshals). Possibly the Citadel in Breland, even.

That said, a Duskblade could fit in almost everywhere, just as much as a regular fighter would. The human or warforged requirement is actually more restrictive, given that it precludes you from playing a Valenar or, perhaps, a Darguun goblinoid (although their magic seems to have been mostly bards and artificers).

I personally think Valenar is a good source of Duskblades, because of their martial history and racial connection to magic.

If you really want to play a warforged Duskblade, consider making him a post-war creation from either the Mournland or the Cannith forge in Sharn. Especially if the class is rare in your campaign (you might even be the only known Duskblade, if your DM allows) you can be a Cannith experiment in mixing magical and martial potential in a warforged and this experiment is what created the Duskblade class. If you choose this, you will have a nice startoff point for your background. Consider for example the fact that House Cannith might have programmed into you memories of the Last War you never had, to cover up hints of their still operational Forge. Or, something a player in my Eberron campaign has, the fact that Cannith officials are probably following your every move as subtle as possible.

Well, just my ideas that pop up when i think about a Duskblade in Eberron.

Was just surfing the Eberron boards, and found this topic: http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=673183 As it is the same as yours, you might check it out for further information. Most people there seem to put them in either Valenar or Aundair.

As for the Valenar, yup. You got it right. They are martial elves called over as mercenaries for Cyre, who then turned independant and now have their own kingdom in the South. Their brothers and sisters who remained behind on Aerenal, the island of the elves, are known as Tairnadal, so your character might come from there, too.

Also, some information about the Valenar you can find here (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ebds/20041004a) and here (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ebds/20041011a).
