Now, I think I've reached the point of settling down with a nice, simple, gruesomely efficient melee class. I've been comparing fighter and barbarian, and noticed that although the fighter might be better in long, drawn out battles, the barbarian (with the right feats and a touch of lycanthropy) is far superior in shorter, more intense battles. Choosing a dwarf for the darkvision, constitution bonus, attack bonus, and AC bonus against giants, I wanted to make my character have a little something special. I decided that I'd like for my barbarian to have a greater rage, so I decided upon this background story to explain how the barbarian's rage is stronger than usual: "The 9th son of the 9th son of Kord, god of Strength/Luck/Chaos/Good, Trogdor the dwarf has strong divine blood flowing through his barbarous veins. Living in the prosperous dwarven city of Trumbousta, located some hundred miles north of the great city Sifilia (the inter-racial city where dwarves, humans, elves, gnomes, half-elves, half-orcs, and halflings intermix freely and peacefully), tragedy struck when Trogdor neared adulthood. Tradition dictated that the 9th son of a 9th son is born with powerful magical blood, and is to hone their sorcerous talents for the betterment of dwarven kind." "However, due to his disgust at the magical arts, Trogdor refused. Thus, he was banished from the dwarven settlement, and turned to barbarism in the wild in order to survive the long trek to the southern city. During his journey, Trogdor stole aboard a ship , thinking the southern currents were taking it to the city, but alas, he was wrong, for the ship was taking him to the hellish jungles of the south." "As he ventured northwards, he contracted lycanthropy from a pair of vicious apes that attacked him in their madness on a full moon." "The interaction of Trogdor's divine blood, lycanthropic blood, sorcerous blood, and the blood of the barbarian's rage interact curiously when Trogdor sets himself into a bezerking rage, making him stronger than any barbarian before him." What do you think? :P |

Im not sure what the whole greater rage thing is though, dont barb's get that at a later level anyway? So it seems like you might not need all that mystical blood stuff.... keep it simple, its better that way. Later |
