Eberron Shifter monk background need help [Archive] - Wizards Community

Background:
Daen Bartell was like many other shifters born in the Eldeen Reaches. Unlike many of his kinsmen he has a fair amount of elven blood in him, making him some sort of twisted half-elf. His Father was of the Dragonmarked house Phiarlan who had a long standing trist with a Shifter inn keeper in Aundair. Before his birth she moved to the Reaches to hide the existance of the child from the House.

When Daen came of age of ten he was sent to the monistary to be educated, by his mother who wanted him to be something more then just another wild land shifter. The monistary was one of the only forms of higher education in the area so itwas an easy chose. The monk preyed to the Host unlike most of the Duridic faith Eldeen Reaches. Daen so fell in the line with the life of the monks studing Religion, History and the Arcane. After a few years Daen came to want to join in with the war that rage around the former Galifar Empire. The monks around him saw the want to fight and the chatic nature of a shifter fighting to get out. They know that a warrior that is not in control of them selves during a battle will soon lose themselves to the bloodlust. So they took him in to the order and taught him the ways of the monk warrior. But Daen being a shifter by nature adapted their fighting stile to fit himself. Where a monk learns how to stun or trip is pry Daen learn how to make use of his shifting abilies to make him a better fighter. As amonk Daen learn to revear the Sovereign Host, most of all Balinor and his sister Arawai.

After a few more years of training as a monk Daen once more became restless. That and the fact that a mark started to appear on his body is the reason why Daen left the monistary to join the an army. The mark seemed nothing at first but after a year he found that at time it felt as if it were on fire. He would soon learn that he could make a magical feild around his body as if he was in armor.

Armed with a spear and battle axe, weapons of chose of the two gods he loved most Daen set out to war. At first he joined with the forces of the Reaches. He started with the helping defence against the Aundairians' armies that at times would trt to retake the Eldeen Reaches. But after a time the fight turned from one of defence to one of offence. After an attack on agroup of homesteads in Aundair with a pack orc warriors, Daen felt it was time to move on. The orc, though noble warriors lost them selves to the bloodlust of battle and killed far to many that ned not have die.

After a time in the Dennith Defenders' Guild, Daen found himself in the city Fairheaven fighting for those he once fought. The campaign was one to force out an army of thrane that was moving through Aundair on one of their crusades of faith. The campaign was one of the last of the war lasting more then three years. Daen learn much about faith and himself in this camopaign more then any other he fought in. He learn that good is not always good and because one thinks they are in the right the other side of the coin thinks they are the same.

Lost Daen Bartell found that lawful life he tried to lead may just be an illsion. Question his past and his future Bartell wonders the woods of the Reaches South to Silver lake. After entering Breland Bartell spent much of the following two years working on the coast as an on ship guard for Breland and Zilargo shipping fleets.

Now looking for something new in life Daen Bartell live is the low rent sections of Sharn looking forthe next even to help give him guidence.

So what do you guys think, need work I know. I need some ideas on shifter, aberrent feats and weapon stile feats. And any ideas how to make the backstory flow better would be good too.

04-17-07, 04:20 AM Before I provide aid, I must ask. Has your DM said that shifters(or specifically, your shifter) are aloud to have abberant dragonmarks in their campiagn?

Yeah, I believe Abberant dragonmarks only appear on races who can gain normal dragonmarks.

But, you could always switch out the Abberant Dragonmark for Hidden Talent and a force screen power.

Make him the love child of 2 diff dragon marked houses. his mother hid him well untill the mark showed its self. then house assasins where sent to kill him. they succeded! Mom couldnt help her self and had him reencarnated and he became a shifter with a secret ally in a dragon marked house!

Make him the love child of 2 diff dragon marked houses. his mother hid him well untill the mark showed its self. then house assasins where sent to kill him. they succeded! Mom couldnt help her self and had him reencarnated and he became a shifter with a secret ally in a dragon marked house!

It's generally accepted that no competant Eberron DM allows this kind of abuse for dragonmarks....
The restrictions on dragonmarks are there for a reason, but some DMs allow races with a significant amount of ______ Blood to take dragonmarks. (A Aasimar having the Mark of Making for instance)

The shifters are of human stock are the they not? But it matters not I am trying to think of something new for a back story. I am dropping the Aberrent mark. I fell that I have tied the character to to many organizations, Both church and Dragonmarked houses will pull the character in to many directions.
