Hey everybody, I need some help to finish fleshing out a character that I will be playing in a game soon (Yes i know its a funny name for a 1/2 orc). My goal is to take large problems that most societys have and put them into a character, and have him over come them in the course of his adventures. Here he is so far! : Edwin the 1/2 orc Shifter 1/2 Orc -- Drd 5 / Shft 1 1) Druid Alertness 2) Druid 3) Druid Endurance 4) Druid 5) Druid Blindsight (or something else) 6) Shifter! so the story line behind this guy... lets start with family, w/ a family tree [Hu/F-(Hu/M]- - - - - - [Orc/F)-Orc/M] Kid1:Hu/F (Daughter of Hu/F and Hu/M) Kid2:Edwin 1/2 Orc (Son of Hu/M and Orc/F) Kid3:Orc/M (Son of Orc/F and Orc /M) And here is the family background w/o names as to not confuse... Edwins father was a druid, his mom a cleric. Before they met, they were both happily married to members of their own races, untill the days of trouble began, when humans and orcs went to war. The Hu/F wife of Edwins dad, and the Orc/M husband of edwins mom, were both slain. On the battlefield Edwins mom and dad met, and fought each other nearly to the death, when a greater foe, an illithid (or something) brought his army in, came and attacked killing off almost everyone. Dad and Mom had to run off into the forrest both almost dead to escape. There they reseted, unable to fight because of fatigue.From what they just saw, they decided to party to try to fight off the new threat to both of their people. Yada Yada, they succeded, fell in love, and bam, Edwin was born. Ok now to let you know. During the fighting and the killing and yada yada, Dad and Mom lost sight of their seprate kids that they had with their original wifes/husbands, and they took them for dead after much searching after. The human sister turns into a mage, who is CN. The orc son turns into a LE sorc. And stuck in between is Edwin who doesn't even know of their existance who is NG. He has never met his mom (as she and husband didnt get along because of different align. early on and left). Edwin lives with his dad on the outskirts of town, and grew up an outcast. He has realy low self-estem because he was ridiculed and an outcast in the town. On the outside Edwin trys to act smart and sophisticated, but his orc herritage blocks him, and he stumbles in matters of high int. He always felt that there was more to him than just his race, something deep down inside that he couldn't talk about that was bigger and better, and that neither humans nor orcs could understand. Heck he doesn't understand. He leaves his father young, deciding to take up his own path in the wilderness to try to get in tune with himself. After a few months he reaches an orc village, and enters, not knowing what to expect. Before when he lived in a human village he thought he was an outcast, but here he is even more of one. The traditions and values of the orcs he meets makes him feel even less secure with what/who he is, and he leaves unable to understand why he doesn't fit in anywhere. He travels off, living off the land and adventuring, always dreaming about what it would be like to be something else. One day, on a hill he lays looking at the clouds, and sees a hawk up in the sky. He closes his eyes, prays and wishs with all his heart. As if in a dream and he feels himself changing, flying, soaring above the clouds. His wish came true! Once he learns to wild shape, he feels free from the burdens of society. This makes him want to become a shifter, to find what he realy is by adventuring. He is realy depresed when he turns back to 1/2 orc form, because he feels that isn't who he realy is (he feels he is something alot bigger and better). This gives good plot hooks for the DM, namly. 1) Brother / Sister / Mother 2) What Edwin wants to find by adventuring The large problems i wanted to adress with this character were the following: 1) Not fiting in / Racial problems 2) Sterotypical views of half-breeds 3) The idea that what is inside counts more than what is outside There are so many paths to take this character on.. for example it can be love that will fufill him, and nothing else, or mabey he finds that the form he realy is is that of a celestial spirit. Or mabey that he is realy evil inside and has a demon... Lots of options but i want it to have even more depth. Can you guys help out (other goals, ambitions, background, etc.. anything even class changes to make it more viable with background etc)? Eventualy I would want him to realise that the outward form doesn't matter, and that he should be happy with who he is, and find new adventuring goals, but if there is something that would be cooler or funner post it!
