| Candide05-29-06, 02:41 AM | I'm bringing in a new character into a game that I play in. I've been thinking of playing something exotic. Orc/Half-Blue Dragon fighter. The orcs in my DM's world are Egyptian-like, so Blue dragon fits more than any other. I'm completely stumped about ideas for the most part. I keep think of having him be a former gladiator who eventually won his freedom. I imagine his fighting style being very showy, and grandious. He might play with other foes before he finishes them off. Very intimidating. |
| dragor_shadowfury05-29-06, 09:22 AM | sounds cool, i think you should make him the silent, cold blooded type, hardened up by having lost all of his former friends because the died in the arena, rarely opening his mouth exept when southing a battlecry and when drunk ________________________________________ __ When she flies above the good They consider themselves blessed When she flies above the wicked They consider themselves dead Serra angel The day has passed beyond our power The petals close upon the flower The light is failing in this hour Of days last waning breath The darkness of the night surround The distant souls of stars now found Far from this world to which were bound Of sorrow fear and death try this one (http://http://kevan.org/brain.cgi?munchlord) for more fun |

| Ouranos Harpy06-07-06, 07:13 PM | Can you give me some more information about the Quasi-Egyptian culture? I ask this because I'm slightly intrigued. Egyptian culture always struck me as extremly elegant, opulent and one riddled with rules of protocol. Do the orcs of your DM's world exhibit these qualities? Or are they more like a barbaric Set-inspired quasi-egyptians? If so, then do they constitute as the majority of the civilization or do they exist on the fringes, in the desert? (as opposed to the oasis/river dewlling Egyptians would have a very different culture). |
| Candide06-07-06, 09:18 PM | The orcs in this world are very regal in both appearance and attitude. They also bathe more frequently than most other cultures. They rule an empire, all of it desert. They hate arcane magic, deeming it ungodly. The edicts of the Orcish Pharoah are considered divine, lawful, and good. No matter how horrid they truly are(the world is full of moral ambiguity). |
| Dipteran_Legacy06-08-06, 04:16 PM | even before reading your last post, I envisioned more of a noble than a slave. if he was raised a gladiator, he should've been a noble before becoming a slave. maybe the emperor, fearing the potential threat your family posed(as a long line with blue dragon blood that has always been loyal to the Pharoah, but always posessed immense power of its own) decreed your house traitors. ambushed in the night, your guards, uncles, aunts, and grandparents were butchered before they even realized they were being attacked, and not only that, but the murderers were spouting off high & mighty gibberish about divinity & traitors. even your parents were killed, and right in front of your eyes, at that. from here, either: A: the Pharoah deemed the children be raised for the gladiatorial pits, leery that the public might look down on a divine decree that went so far as to butcher children. He figured it as good as a death sentence-that your cousins and yourself would die in the pits, and half-dragons would bring in quite the crowds. he didnt expect for you to live through 100 fights. maybe you even survived the last fight(a mass melee) because some of your siblings saw the most potential in you, and gave their own lives so you could avenge the deaths of your whole family? maybe your last fight for freedom was a one-on-one fight against one of your siblings. did they lose deliberately, or was it a tense and grueling conflict? do you see their blood as truly being on your hands, or is it another sin to lie at the pharoah's feet? -or- B: you somehow escaped, and were captured by slavers shortly after. no one is really aware that your family line is not completely eradicated, but you plan to let them all know-when the time is right the whole noble-turned-gladiator would also mesh well with being a cocky, flashy fighter |
