Simi 01-20-04, 03:41 PM	I'm posting this for my brother since he does not get on these boards but needs help. He is about to start playing an elven assasin in our group and is trying to come up with a background. If anyone has any ideas that would be great. Thanks in advance. :D
Rhomdruil 01-20-04, 04:21 PM	What is the rest of the group? Good Guys? Bad Guys? Paladins? Rangers? Etc... Some stats and skills would be helpful as well as any background info from the campaign (i.e. Is it forgotten Realms, Greyhawk, Homebrew details)
Simi 01-20-04, 04:43 PM	It is a homebrew. Basically the magic in the world is messing up and our group has to find out what is wrong and try to fix it. It is a mix of good and nuetral pcs. 2 rangers, 1 wizard, 1 cleric, 1 thief, 2 fighters, and the elven assasin. I do not have his stats with me but am going try and get him to come on and list them. (It is his character after all) If more info is needed please feel free to ask. Thanks
Rhomdruil 01-21-04, 03:58 PM	Perhaps the Elven Clan/Kingdom has Assassin types that act as agents for thier people, noble and honorable types. His character could be on a mission for the (enter subrace here) Elves, as they are also greatly affected by this magically problem...or...The character had always had a mean streak and in his youth he practiced the deadly arts which he now lays title to, those of the Assassin. Running afoul of his family, perhaps a noble house, he was exiled and brought shame to his family. With maturity came regret, helping the world figure out this problem could well redeem him in the eyes of the elves...
Quijin 01-25-04, 12:33 PM	how about he was once a fun loving and happy person, but then some mortal race (human or any thing really) killed a person close to him and he vowed to hunt that person down. this brought great sadness the the elven community or such, and eventually when the elf finnally got his revenge, he had nothing to go back to the community for so he decided to stay in the current community/city was in and be an assasin for hire to make a living, because his training to hunt down the mortal made him perfect for the dark arts. however he did not like his job, but when he heard about the magic and a group heading out to find out and stop the problem, he realized that this would be a way to help people and that is what the dead person that he loved would have wanted.
Tiara Brightsaber 01-25-04, 09:32 PM	Perhaps a LN character who was trained to be an assassin by the Elven Courts. Hey, they're useful. Anyway, play him as a relatively normal elf except that he won't hesitate to kill someone who he (or his superiors) deem a threat to his people. What was it from True Lies? "Did you ever kill anyone?" "Yeah but they were all bad!" Similar concept. He's not an evil character killing for money but for a cause higher than himself. Try to have him do some nice things (money to charity, provide healing through Treat Injury to others) to balance out his deadly duty.

SoulLord 01-28-04, 01:06 PM	your brother could also be evil...... perhaps he has to make sure that the mission suceeds no matter the cost and do things the other pcs would be reluctant or unwilling to do. "Demon: ill spare this town if you bring me the blood of an inocent child" an elf driven to his goal caring not for life or friends as long as the deed gets done. neutral evil perhaps? SoulLord
