| Archamorden01-24-04, 03:08 PM | We are starting an all elf campaign. We are excited. What we are worried about is that it won't "feel" like a bunch of elves...just your usual pack of adventurers you know? I have decided to set myself apart by experiencing great loss in my past and not dealing well with the grief. My question is how would an elf grieve. Will he be dark and brooding...kind of a Goth type, or could you tell? Give me some ideas. The characters history so far is that he was a great military commander in the Elven army...huge war with orc kind...his leadership, courage and commitment drive the hordes back....he comes back and recieves all the glory and accolades deserved....he retires....marries and has a child...(a little girl)...his life is happy for a few years until his wife comes down with an affliction..(lycanthropy)...the wife wakes in the night and ravages the daughter....my character rises out of bed to find his child slain and some semblance of his wife standing over the childs body...he pulls from the mantle, the sword that he lead his glorious campaign and slays his beloved wife....he falls into a pit of despair. What do you think? Help me with the Elven grieving....how we elves can differentiate personalities and what you think of the history. Thanks. |

Both his feats as a great leader and his pain of losing his familly should be a bit obscure for him. Another alternative should be to consecrate his life to a new military carrier. But since he lost a bit of himself when he had to kill his wife, he is no longer the respected chief he was, so he left his city to live an adventuring life. He always thinks "battle first", but in fact, it is to avoid thinking of his lost familly. |

Depending on the character he could take some Ranger levels, maybe foe hunter later on, to try and exterminate the lycantrope threat to the world or he could have sworn not to kill except to save others (he does not fear death, he actually awaiting it). Of course he is torn between aiding his still living friends and joining his family in the afterlife Just remember that the character would probably refuse to get raised/resurrected, if he really meets his daughter/wife in the afterlife. (...) Atenio Craith (PS: Sorry for any errors, English isn't my mother tongue) I like the idea of the character vaguely searching to end his life, but who still have "something to do" before: help an old friend, destroy an evil cult, kill a tyrant... Atenio, english is not the mother tongue of many ones here, and I saw many posts of "native english users" that were extremely hard to read! |

Finding the source of his beloved affliction and destroying it. Basically revenge before death. |
