| The_Yellow_Dart_Swinger11-24-03, 08:37 PM | This is a somewhat sketchy background for an elven monk I plan to play in the near future. Add suggestions, comments, help, changes, etc. Jyabil Siliqua was born in a normal elven comunity. As he grew up it soon became aparent that he wa different in some areas than most of the other elven children. He was very perceptive of his surroundings and seemed to be less carefree than others. He helped others in need with what he could, usually focusing on one task until it was completed; unless a larger important task came along. Also during rudementry elven fighting teachings, he did not take particular liking to either the sword or the bow. As he grew older still he began to feel like the comunity was not the right place for him but he was unsure of what he would do. So at 80 he left his home, not yet an adult and not even getting an adult name. He spent the the next ten years wandering the backwoods of forest, not coming into contact with anyone but the rare traveler. However one of those travelers happened to be a human monk Rei Teewan. The monk allowed Jyabil to accompany him for over two years, during this time the monk taught Jyabil about learning about one's self and the art of fighting using one's body. Jyabil returned to the forest he was before and tried to perfect his own art, training for over thirty years living off the land and mastering the art of fighting using what he had been taught by the monk. During that time Jyabil decided it was a waste to do something selfish like perfecting one's self, but to use that power to help others in need. So he started to wander the world doing just that. I havn't rolled up stats, but it will be something like this in importance: Str (Low) Dex (High) Con (Med) Int (Med) Wis (High) Cha (Low) I was also thinking of taking some of the following feats: Weapon finese (unarmed) Alertness, Lighting Reflexes and possibly Iron Will. Any questions or sugestions would be nice, thanks. |

To prevent this, I suggest that an elven elder detected his needs, and introduced him to the human monk. As for the feats selection (more for the character optimization board), a Monk already get good saves in the 3 categories, and your stats will be good in DEX, WIS and CON. So I don't think you will need save improving feat that much, unless it is prerequisite for some other good feats. Instead, use feats that give some personnal flavor to your character (the Whirlwind attack way; Deflect Arrow, Snatch Arrow & Arrow Jab; Improved Trip/Grapple; Track). |

I find that battle crops up often enough to necessitate high strength to supplement the monk's ridiculous BAB progression. |
