| Lael05-02-07, 11:23 PM | My DM spotted something in a Dragon Mag or Sword and Sorcery book the other day called an Eternal and thought of my character. But he can't remember exactly where he saw it and I was wodnering if anyone had seen it before. Now this is something I've worked with my DM about after my original character for the group died. This is what he and I came up with. My char was orignally a elf bard and we just recently upgraded to 3.5 and recently aquired a deck of many things. Fooshly I used it and one of the three cards I got was Death. As we all know that typically draws up a Dread Wraith, but for my character it was actually "Death". After dropping my char down to technically to something like -14 Con he was plucked from existance and given a choice from Death to go work for him and go follow the party around reaping the souls in the parties wake as they had been causing a lot of "paperwork" for death lately, or actually have something quite nasty happen with his soul. So my char was given a big black cloak, a sythe, a hour glass and a great tome and set off in the ethereal / shadow / death plane following the party. As well as doing other things for death here and there, keeping up with the storyline of the campaign. So I pouted awefully when this char died and he basically was an integrial part of the group and things went very paired shape after he died, so we came up with the above concept and was waiting for sometime to bring him back in. About 2 months ago (and how many years later) a situation occured where one of the party members used the wish in his luck blade to wish away a balor that had dropped at least half the party, reality was re-written (as what happens when you wish something away) and my char is there, going "hrmmm I'm sure there was supposed to be a soul I was picken up here, oh well" and attempts to walk back through a wall he came through and bumps into it. So there is my character standing there, going "you can all see me, hrmmm thats odd". There was one other character (and elf as well from when my character died still) in the party, and even though my character was un-written from reality, he felt very familar to him- like and old friend from his childhood and that was how I got back into the party. So my character now is a Harbinger (bard variant) / dirgesinger with a bunch of feats that effect undead and my fave doomspeak. At the time the only thing we could find to represent his working for death for so long was a template we created on the Deathtouched race from a Dragon Magazine (cha +4, deathwatch, chilltouch). As much as that works, we are still feeling something is lacking. So when he spotted this Eternal he thought of my character, and now a little bit impatient I'm asking if anyone knows of it. |

| boggler6505-03-07, 09:53 AM | Yeah, that is in Dragon mag, last months issue. Bottom line it just presents rules for making already living characters ageless, immortal, etc. There is one variant presented involving reincarnation, but that seems like it would fit in after this campaign you're involved with is over, basically what happens is you're reincarnated, you kind of feel like you know things, like you've been places before, but you're still level 1, and you have to regain your abilities, and possibly memories. |

Basically elves in his world and Tolkien elves and thus immortal (i.e don't do of old age), so basically he's already got that ability. He said the other thing about the Eternal is that you don't need to eat or sleep, infact you can't sleep. Does that ring any bells? |
| boggler6505-06-07, 12:56 PM | in FR chosen of different deities have no need to sleep, but they still can if they want to. Elves can't sleep, they take reverie, which is a meditative state where they relive events which happened to them in the past, and usually lasts 4 hours. Though they can lay down when they take reverie so that they appear to be sleeping. I don't know about the not eating thing. |
