| SmiloDan09-28-03, 09:51 AM | OK, in real life, I am volunteering at my friend's House of Horrors, which is a 16,000 foot haunted house at the mall. I will probably be in the 8 foot tall clown costume for the most part. It's a rig with a false head over my head. The rig has a black cloak or robe, and I will probably be wearing a clown outfit under it as well. There are mechanical arms that give me 6 feet of reach or so. So, in order to be the scariest clown ever, what kind of background, characterization can I use. I can't actually touch the customers, but I can intimidate the bejeezus out of them. The room I am set up in has an entrance, an exit kitty corner from it, and a dead end across from the entrance after a short 90 degree turn. I usually try to be like a statue against the far wall and chase the customers into the dead end and make them cry while I cackle like a maniac. So I guess what I'm asking is, what would make someone become an 8 foot tall evil clown of doom? What's a good name for said clown? Who knew D&D had a real-life application? I also helped build the haunted house, which is basically a big dungeon, with traps (things that pop out at the customers) and monsters (high school kids in costume volunteering for school credit. When I was in high school, I had to volunteer at the Red Cross. I was so ripped off!). The grid system is 4 by 4 instead of 5 by 5 like D&D, but it's still pretty close. |

Somebody who takes sinister joy in causing pain and suffering under the guise of happiness would become an 8-foot tall CoD. Or a basketball player who likes the circus. |

Yet then he had to work at one too many children's parties where the sadistic little monsters shouted, vomitted, and kicked him in the shins. His spirit was twisted by this treatment from his underdeveloped pygmy tormentors and he decided that if they could take such pleasure in spreading pain and misery than so could he. The disullisioned, fallen clown then set off on a massive killing spree, always focussing on filling his victims with as much terror as possible before cutting them down. He was finally tracked down and accidentally killed by the police and his rage-filled, restless spirit was ensnared by a mad necromancer to forever stalk the twisting, labyrinthine halls of a haunted mansion to which he lures travellers that he may torment for his own amusement. This new occupation suits the clown just fine. |

All your best scares come from off-the-cuff ideas and comments. The Big Boo is good for a sudden jolt but the screams, tears, and loss of bowel control (and I'm serious about that last one.) come from the Boogie Men who just won't shut-up and go away. |
| SmiloDan10-08-03, 11:45 AM | I've only been "haunting" for 2 years. I like to pretend to be a statue of the clown, and then jump out at the marks and chase them into dead ends. We haven't had anyone mess themselves yet (that I know of!), but last year we had a couple pukers and one pisser. Gross. This year it'll be worse. |
