Hi there,
in my party I have a neutral evil Cleric of a death deity, and since we're moving on to 3rd ed. rules right now, he wants to take the inquisitor prestige class, and I thought to allow him to take it even if the alignment wouldn't allow it... is there any "evil inquisitor" class in any of the sourcebook / accessories? Also, what feats would you reccomend to such an individual? And are the skills of a "good" inquisitor ok for an evil one? My fellow player has chosen some combat feats basically, but this doesn't seem much good to me, since the inquisitor looks like a more subtle character. I'm going to propose him a feat change next time we meet, along (maybe) with a little stats change (clerics in 2nd edition were much different from current 3rd ed. clerics).
Thank you very much anticipately for your answers, bye,
Niky

I don't see why you can't talk to your DM to allow evil inquisitors. Just change the detect evil into detect good. (Unless your character is hunting evil but doesn't know that in the process he is doing evil acts by sentencing people to death that he thinks are evil but they arn't and don't deserve it for instance.)

Their might be a class in the book of vile darkness that is better suited. Alignment wise you might have to be lawful because of the process of hunting down people wouldn't really be random. Your character when he finds the person he is looking for would probably imploy torture to get that person to repent his or her sins to your god. Or it could be something like the salim witch hunts in that if they drowned they weren't witchs and died. But if they lived they got burned at the stake. It was death no matter which way you look at it.

Hoped that helpped a bit.

The historical inquisition was not a particularly admirable organization and I see no problem allowing a player to take the inquisitor PrC from defenders of the faith while being evil. There is no need to change the PrC in any way (besides the prerequisites) for that occasion.

The "Church Inquisitor" class from DotF has a "good-only" alignment restriction???

Wow, that's surprising.

It's a decent PrC in its own right, anyway. Grants a prestige domain whose power is a +4 on dispel checks, and you get to force masquerading shapechangers back into their true forms.
