As a DM, my favorite NPC of all time was Ryoma Kuburei, a LE Telepath. I'm going to have a chance to play him as a PC, but I never created an in-depth backstory for him. at level 20, he'd be a 10 Telepth/ 10 Thrallherd. He's got very high mental ability scores, with very low physical. He stands at about 5'8'' and is quite guant. At first glance, he looks quite handsome, but closer inspection reveals his strange features. His face is skeletal and the pupils of his eyes are pitch black...there is no gleam to them...they appear empty. I never created a fleshed out backstory for him, just some vague facts: 1) Comes from royalty of some kind 2) Highly educated 3) Disowned by family due to some sort of event. This event must be highly traumatic, because as the character awakens more and more psionic power, he falls deeper and deeper into maddness. He seems lively and healthy at low levels, eventaully becoming highly gaunt and sadistic. 4) Enjoys toying with people's heads, uses lots of Dominate/Charm/etc powers. Once he has access to level 9 powers, he uses Assimilate on his followers constantly. Becomes quite sadistic at high levels. I'm looking to the boards to help me elaborate on the above 4 points, mainly number 3.
