| Dark_Prince12-25-05, 05:57 PM | Me and a couple of friends are starting a new module and my character is a Vampire Prince...and im at a loss of names...I have know idea what his name is going to be so ummm yeah.... |
| Pandaemoni12-26-05, 01:54 AM | Some other facts would be helpful, like details of where he was born. Assuming he's the traditional pseudo-Eastern European style vampire. "Ciodaru" is a good traditional Romanian name (pronounced see-oh-DAR-oo, with the "A" sounding as it does in "car"), and Prince Ciodaru has a ring to my ear. I'd probably search the web for a list of male, Eastern European baby names. (e.g., search "Romanian boys names" or "Bulgarian Boys names,"--or Hungarian, Serbian (or Croatian, same basic thing), Albanian, Bosnian, Greek, Macedonian or even Polish, Russian or Turkish). That should provide you with names and their original meanings. (Though looking now "Ciodaru" is "meaning unknown.") I'm sure you can find a name and meaning you like. You can pretty much adapt that to any culture you want (Indian names, Ethiopian names, Japanese names, Native American names, etc.). This has a decent list, including "Dragomir" as a Romanian name (pronounced "DRAY-go-meer"), meaning "precious and peaceful," and I love irony: http://www.justudare.com/babynames.htm Post what you finally settle on, as I'll be curious. |
| Arkandor_of_Silverymoon12-27-05, 07:30 PM | I liked these: Prince Jenisa Coldspirit Lord Zalib the Dark Draceli Garsaut K'Resmond IV  |
| Orcmonk8912-28-05, 06:52 AM | How about Draco? |
| Morka12-28-05, 10:20 AM | Some other facts would be helpful, like details of where he was born. Indeed. In many sources about fantasy vampires including D&D, Anne Rice's novels and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, vampires are not "born", they are "created". So he is likely to be a Vampire Prince more because of his acts than his familly. He is then likely to forge his own name, perhaps by adding a strange title after his own name: William the Bloody, Lestat the Brat Prince, Baron Arthur von Death... But I know in other sources like Blade, vampires can reproduce sexually. In this case you might wish to follow Pandaemoni's advice and visit an eastern european name bank... |
| The_Fantabulous_Pog12-29-05, 05:55 AM | Maybe you could make lists of interesting prefixes/suffixes and see what the combinations turn up: Mort Unger Morr Gana Dur Ritch Zul Sade Bal Tor etc. etc. (the above are pretty poor attempts - sure you can do better ;) ) Or take a name from history or myth... Or try blanding/compounding words with apposite meanings: Sly+Filth=Silth etc. Have fun! |
| Skritz_the_Lizardmen12-29-05, 05:35 PM | Volnazaar Balthomors Delthoss Balnazaar Malbivion Muldirom |
| trappedslider12-29-05, 07:01 PM | or oyu could just go wiht simple : Bob :P |
| The Brat Prince12-29-05, 09:31 PM | I'm rather partial to "Baron Pointy VonHackenslash"..... In all seriousness, i'd go with something very aristorcratic and rather snobby, here's a few i just came up with: Erik VonHeldengeir Dolartu ir'Vein Vellis D'Eparignier Christian Halven Sebastian Harwood |
| Dark_Prince12-30-05, 10:25 AM | well he was born in italy and I already checked name data banks..not helpful... |
| Pandaemoni12-30-05, 11:35 AM | How about "Prince Calogero di Orfeo" "Calogero" means "beautiful elder". Orfeo is italian for "Orpheus" a greek hero who traveled into the underworld and returned. You'd then be "Prince Orfeo" or "Prince Orpheus." "Prince Orpheo" has a certain reminiscence to "Count Orlock" from the classic movie Nosferatu. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0013442/ |
| Cyphen01-02-06, 01:12 AM | Or you could name yourself after the badassest vampire ever, Kain. He's a king too, so it fits with the "prince" bit of your character. Then there's the obvious choice of Alucard, because vampire always spell their name backwards when they want to go incognito, and the name itself does sound a bit aristocratic. If you want more aristocratic and less evil/scary try Monteago or name yourself after some expensive wine company (no joke, look at some of the names) |
